So I decided to watch Pac Man and the Ghostly Adventures. It's cute, and occasionally it gives me a bit of a giggle. However, the writing leaves a lot to be desired.
Presumably, Pac's parents are dead. It's not confirmed, I don't think (I'm only like, 10 or so episodes in), but obviously Pac isn't even aware himself as to how he became an orphan after questioning folks 'bout it. But basically, in one episode, he travels to the past and ends up landing during the war. He sees his parents and his baby-self. Although the emotions at this point are put across pretty badly already, I want to focus on the important bit.
He's about to leave and return to present day, but he suddenly changes his mind and decides he wants to stay and protect his parents. HOWEVER this doesn't happen because the button to activate the time machine-thingy is pressed. Now, you'd think he'd be bawling and super upset after leaving behind his parents in such a dangerous environment, knowing that an event that follows will be responsible for his loss of them. Instead, he just gets over it real quick and waves goodbye. I'm no expert, but...surely it's not that easy to just get over something so HUGE?? The least they could have done was maybe animate a single tear, or something??
Gosh I don't even know, it just bothers me that they could have executed that episode so much better. I know it's a kids show, but that's no excuse for poor writing.
Maybe I've missed something, but that's pretty much my motivation for this drawing and I figured I'd share it. I'm still watching PMATGA, because I'm thinking it gets better. Hopefully. Also, I'm just in it for the Pac because QT patootie.
