Hate crime maps reveal the most prejudiced places in America
At least 6,593 hate crimes occurred in 2012, according to hate crime data compiled by the University of Michigan.
The maps below reveal where different groups are most likely to be victims of hate crimes. Each county is colored based on its hate crime rate, the number of hate crimes per 100,000 residents in 2012. The worst offenders and their hate crime rates are called out in each map.

Israel Destroys Entire Gaza Neighborhood In An Hour

An entire Gaza neighborhood is decimated within an hour by Israeli air strikes. The video is further proof that Israel has no regard for the life of innocent Palestinians.
Israel attacked Gaza’s only power plant on Tuesday, leaving the Palestinian territory’s 1.8 million residents with no electricity or running water and opened the possibility of an even graver humanitarian crisis.
After three weeks of violence between Israel and Gaza, more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air and ground strikes. About 75 percent of Palestinian deaths have been civilians. Several thousand have been wounded and more than 100,000 displaced. Fifty-three Israeli soldiers have died, as well as three civilians.
Just look at the casualties. This is not a war, it is genocide.

CBS NFL Host James Brown Says ‘No’ to Redskins, Cites Civil Rights Movement
Longtime CBS sports broadcaster James Brown says the Washington NFL team should “Do the right thing” and change its name. In an interview with CBS News’ live symposium, 50 Years Later: Civil Rights, Brown related the debate to the civil rights movement.
A pretty okay introduction into the current state of the prison system.
There are now more Americans in jail — 6 million — than there were in Stalin’s Gulag, reports Fareed Zakaria, in a column called “Incarceration Nation.”
And it’s not just a relative population thing. The U.S. has 760 prisoners per 100,000 citizens. How does that compare to other countries?
It’s 7X-10X as high:
Japan has 63 per 100,000,
Germany has 90 per 100,000
France has 96 per 100,000
South Korea has 97 per 100,000
Britain has 153 per 100,000
And it’s also a relatively new phenomenon: In 1980, the U.S. only had 150 prisoners per 100,000 citizens.
What’s to blame? The “War on Drugs.”
More than half of America’s 6 million prisoners are in jail for drug convictions, with 80% of those in jail for “possession.”
By the way, has the “war on drugs” worked?
Um, no.
There are still drugs everywhere. So, maybe it’s time we stopped throwing people in the slammer for possessing them.
What is interesting, is that the Frida Kahlo venerated by American feminists is a very different Frida Kahlo to the one people learn about in Mexico, in the Chicano community. In her country, she is recognized as an important artist and a key figure in revolutionary politics of early 20th century Mexico. Her communist affiliations are made very clear. Her relationship with Trotsky is underscored. All her political activities with Diego Rivera are constantly emphasized. The connection between her art and her politics is always made. When Chicana artists became interested in Frida Kahlo in the ‘70s and started organizing homages, they made the connection between her artistic project and theirs because they too were searching for an aesthetic compliment to a political view that was radical and emancipatory. But when the Euro-American feminists latch onto Frida Kahlo in the early ‘80s and when the American mainstream caught on to her, she was transformed into a figure of suffering. I am very critical of that form of appropriation.
