BIOGRAPHY:
Hana Choi comes from a wealthy family located in Manhattan, New York. As an only child, Hana was the sole focus of her parents. She had extremely loving, supportive parents who only wanted to see her flourish in whatever she decided to put her mind to. She was always competitive, wanting to thrive in every activity she took part in. Her focus as a child had zeroed in on ice skating, her parents putting her into a program and being coached in it until she was a teenager. It was something that she excelled at, actively enjoying it immensely as she strived to get better and better.
Then as her high school years started to come towards a close, Hana tried to decide on just what she wanted to do with her life. Ever since she had been small she had adored children and helped them whenever she could. Between ice skating lessons and her own homework, Hana took up being a tutor to kids she lived near, her own cousins, or other kids in a different grade. It occurred to her that she strived in teaching others, deciding to settle with becoming a grade school teacher. It was something she got great joy out of, despite how hard it was to finally set down her ice skates and put her attention fully on her career to be a teacher.
Staying in the Big Apple, Hana decided to attend NYU. There, that’s where she met Hyun-Jin Kal. Something immediately clicked between the pair and it didn’t take long for Hana to fall head over heels for the man. She hadn’t ever felt this close with someone before, confiding in her Jin, him making himself a home in her heart. They spent their college years together, even getting a cat named Pockets together, Hana convinced that he was it for her. He met her parents, the pair loving him immensely and the approval made her heart grow even more at how it all seemed to be falling in place. It wasn’t until a conversation about their future that things started to crumble. Hana made it clear that she wanted to have children. That she wanted to build a family with Kal down the line, whether it was after college or down the line, it was something she truly wanted.
It was not something Kal wanted.
Things fell apart from there. More arguments, more tension. It bubbled over and Hana ended it, being far too stubborn and cutting things off there. No matter how deeply she ached at the fact that she was destroying something so precious to her and going cold turkey, it was what she thought was best. All forms of communication were also cut off, profiles being blocked and numbers. It was time for a fresh start.
Hana threw herself into finding a job. She even tried to put herself back into ice skating, coaching a few kids a few times a week. After an intense process and putting her uttermost determination into it, Hana managed to get a job at The Spence School in Manhattan as a first grade teacher.
It’s been several years in the position at The Spence School and Hana couldn’t be happier, teaching and thriving as she helped the young minds of New York City that came through her classroom. She currently remains single and is fine with it, constantly joking that she is married to her work. Hana is more than happy remaining where she’s at in her career and her life, trying not to linger on regrets that creep in on her at times.
