— BIOGRAPHY

Hana’s parents came over to the states when they were both teenagers. Their parents were friends and so that’s how the two of them met one another. It wasn’t until high school when they started dating, and eventually the two got married to one another. It wasn’t much longer after their wedding that they gave birth to a 6 pound 14 ounce little girl that they named Hana.

Hana was a wonderful baby and an even more wonderful toddler. She was a brilliant child and while she was growing up her parents made sure she knew her heritage, which was South Korean. They made sure she could speak and understand the Korean language, they made sure she knew the food, the culture. They even took her to visit their home country when she was a teenager, which Hana absolutely adored. She’s been a couple times afterwards in her adult life as well.

In high school Hana was part of the debate and track team. She loved to run, loved to feel the wind rushing by her as her feet hit the pavement. She still holds a record at her high school for the 1 mile run, though she sort of lost the love for the sport as she grew older. She still runs occasionally though.

The one true love she never forgot was her love for candy. When she was younger, her father would take her to a candy store near their home and she could remember being so so very excited for it. She loved the look of pure joy whenever she saw a new kid come in the store, and so even from a very young age Hana has stated that she would one day have her own candy store.

And she does now. Hana owns a candy shop, which she has named Candyland. Inside Candyland are rows and rows of various candies that you can dip out into a bag. There are even various Korean candies that she has for sale. Occasionally she likes to experiment with making her own that she has out for sampling.

Her mom and father both own a store themselves, which Hana once helped with until she bought Candyland. They own a hair store, where they also sell various as seen on tv stuff. She still occasionally helps them out with their store if they need it.

“I had a customer today request a sangria and then she got mad that it I made it with red wine. Apparently she’s allergic to wine.” The stupidity of some people truly had no bounds. What alcohol did she think was in a sangria? 

“I have so many questions,” she started, “Why didn’t she say that to begin with? So you could suggest something without wine...” Why was it people always assumed they could read minds in the customer industry? Hana didn’t have to deal with it as much, but there was still the occasional wild parent that would swoop in flapping around talking about how their kids weren’t supposed to have candy.. “What happened afterwards?”

his  heart  stopped  as  he  stared  down  at  his  phone.  he  couldn’t  believe  his  what  he  was  read.                             he’s  here.

never  has  he  moved  so  fast.  typing  out  a  quick  reply  as  he  darted  out  of  office  shouting  to  Jess  that  he  was  stepping  out  for  a  minute.  the  drive  to  the  candy  store  was  a  blur.  it  was  probably  a  miracle  that  he  made  it  there  in  one  piece  as  he  couldn’t  even  remember  if  he  followed  proper  traffic  laws.  oops.

what  was  he  even  doing  here?  yes,  to  talk  to  a  man  that  undoubtedly  knew  what  happened  to  his  sister,  but  what  was  he  doing  here?  he  was  a  fucking  lawyer,  not  some  hardened  detective.  at  this  point  though,  he  might  as  well  be  counted  as  one,  considering  he  has  done  more  in  his  own  sister’s  missing  persons’  case  than  the  nypd  combined;  unless.  

what  should  he  do?  should  he  go  right  up  to  him  and  ask?  would  this  sorry  excuse  for  a  person  even  remember?  it  was  six  years  ago,  six  very  long  years.  his  hands  were  shaking  as  he  pretended  to  browse  the  store  as  he  kept a  sharp  eye  on  the  man  in  question.  what  should  he  do?  he  glanced  over  towards  hana’s  direction,  feeling  a  twinge  of  guilt  for  having  dragged  her  into  his  mess.  surely  whatever  action  he  takes  will  affect  her  in  some  way.  he  had  dreamed  of  this  moment,  thought  about  it  constantly,  and  yet,  here  he  is    standing  in  the  middle  of  candyland,  unsure  of  what  to  do.  pathetic.

It was a strange sight. Seeing Jitae so unsure of his next move, and to be fair, if Hana were in his shoes she most definitely would not know her next move. She supposed that perhaps he had known his next move, only for it to fly out in the wind as soon as he laid eyes on the poor fellow. Whoever this fellow might be, it was clear that he was very important to her new friend, and so the minute he had walked in she had him drawn into conversation. Something something about how that particular candy he was looking at was made or how if you mixed it with a different candy then the flavor was phenomenal. All stuff she had made up, of course.

The man had clearly not wanted to get drawn into anything with Hana, that much was entirely obvious. His whole demeanor said agitated to the max. “Jitae!” she called out excitedly towards her friend, motioning him over, “Oh you are going to love Jitae,” she muttered out with a smile on her lips to the guy standing in front of her. “I didn’t want to tell you this, but,” the smile was still planted firmly on her lips as she spoke, “You’re our next winner. We’ve been planning this whole thing to get the store more publicity and you....you won!” Was this a smart idea? She wasn’t so sure, but she had to do something. “Did you bring the prize? Or is it still in back?”

Andres entered the candy shop through the back alley. It probably wasn’t necessary, he doubted he would raise too many red flags, sauntering through the front entrance, but there was no reason to be that brazen. “Going to need this washed, ASAP,” he told her. He didn’t phrase it as a question, because it wasn’t. Andres laid his backpack down on the counter, filled wit bundle of 50 dollar bills. “Not going to be an issue, is it?” he asked her. Andres had taken on a contract recently, it was quite a bit of money. The fact he had a backpack full of currency signified he’d been successful. There were other ways he could have gotten his money laundered, but this was the easiest, knowing he could probably intimidate Hanah into many things.

“Washed?” she commented, her brows furrowed up in confusion at what he was asking. Her small fingers reached out to pull the backpack closer towards her, her eyes quickly growing wide as she saw the money within in. “You want me to wash all this? Like...with soap? I’m not quite understanding.” Hana blinked blankly at Marco, “I guess I could do that.....does dawn dish soap work?”

“You should’ve seen the look on their face. It’s been so long since I’ve made someone that fuckin’ angry it was great.” Practically viscously delightful to take an egotistical asshole and shove them down a few levels. “And I mean, sure, I know I’m not the best guy out there in the whole dating scene, but at least it’s not out of malice.” No, he was just horribly noncommittal. “And what they did was just manipulative as all fuckin’ hell. Scummy, honestly.” 

“I wish I could’ve seen it!” she delighted with him, though seeing someone that angry may have scared poor Hana a little bit. That wouldn’t have stopped her from laughing it up with him afterwards. “I can’t believe they did that...what kind of person does something like that? Do you think they learned their lesson?” She certainly hoped they didn’t try the same trick on someone else.

he  grinned  at  her  excitement.  she  was  just  so  refreshing.  very  different  from  the  people  he  normally  dealt  with  day  to  day.  “  do  i  play?  yes.  a  lot  when  i  was  in  college,  not  so  much  now.  ”  but  he  wasn’t  opposed  to  changing  that.  she’ll  have  to  definitely  forgive  him  for  being  rusty.  “  ADC  main?  i  used  too  be  in  the  beginning,  then  i  became  a  top  laner.  i’ll  play  with  ya  whenever  i  have  time,  ya?  just  shoot  me  a  text.  “

his  quirked  an  eyebrow  at  her.  cute,  huh?  that  was  a  new  one.  he  had  been  called  many  things.  from  monster,  terrible,  horrid,  to  handsome,  sweet,  charming,  to  straight  up  annoying.  he’s  been  cursed  at,  and  sweettalked.  funny  how  none  of  them  referred  to  him,  or  anything  he  did  as  cute.  he  pulled  his  phone  out  of  his  suit  pocket,  staring  down  at  the  message  sent,  and  snickered.

“  careful,  hana.  keep  spoiling  me,  and  i’ll  never  leave.  ”  he  was  very  much  like  a  wild  animal  in  that  way.  best  way  to  win  jitae  over,  feed  him.  he  wouldn’t  say  he’s  a  slut,  but  for  food,  maybe.  “  of  course,  i  am  a  gentleman,  ”  though,  some  might  disagree  with  that  statement,  but  that  was  beside  the  point.  “  plus,  it’s  the  least  i  can  do.  ”  opening  the  drawer  to  his  desk,  he  shoved  the  files  he  had  been  reading  in,  before  fishing  out  his  car  keys  from  his  pants  pocket.  “  that’s  rather  convenient.  “  and  slightly  dangerous.  he  hid  his  worried  expression  with  a  well  practised  smile.  would  she  be  safe  living  there  after  he  found  his  man?  would  they  target  her  next  because  of  him?  “  should  we  go,  then?  the  faster  we  get  you  home,  the  faster  you  can  rest.  “  he’d  worried  about  those  things,  later;  or  not.  she  wasn’t  anyone  to  him.  not  his  problem.                 he  was  only  lying  to  himself  at  this  point.

“We have to play then! Oh i would love that.” Was she a little too excited? Probably, but that didn’t mean she would calm down any. “I used to play a lot more a few years ago before my store, however, I still play here and there now. How will I know when you have time? Maybe you should text me when you have time, huh?

Cute was exactly how she would describe Jitae...though...handsome would definitely be an alternative that would fit him. Finding out he played league only made him even cuter. My god, the way he snickered, it cause a snicker of her own to slip between her lips.

“I hope not,” she muttered out sheepishly under her breath, hoping that he wouldn’t hear the words. In that case, it was quite probable that she would continue to feed him, especially if candy counted. There was never a short supply of candy around the girl. “Convenient for me when I spend the whole night cleaning the store after a rampage of children have stomped through...gets me to bed faster.” She honestly hadn’t ever thought that it would also be slightly dangerous...she was a little naïve when it came to those things.

Penelope was the type of girl who ran on coffee, tequila and the various New York street foods she had scoped out from a young age. In between her day job and a private party at The Cancún, she found herself craving something sweet. She couldn’t go on to serve handles of liquor all night without satisfying herself first. Practically skipping into the candy shop, her green eyes gazed all over the colorful sweets. She grabbed a bag, ready to do some damage as she began dumping her traditional favorites in: sweet n’ sour gummy worms and Skittles. Her lingering eyes on the new selections as she grabbed one out of the acrylic case and plopped it on her mouth. As she bit into the sweet goodness, her eyes became fixed on theirs and she shrugged. 

“Gotta make sure it’s not poisoned,” she told them with a grin.

Hana couldn’t blame anyone that suddenly found themselves doing a little taste test with the candy. After all if Hana were left up to her own devices in her own store she might eat the place out of all it’s candy. That’s why she set a rule for herself long ago. There wasn’t a lick of free candy for her. “Oh no, I get it, “ she explained, a gentle smile on her lips, “It’s my store and I still find myself wanting to check to make sure.” A laugh erupted from her lips as she shook her head, “But really it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. If that’s the worst thing that’s happened here I would be lucky. i peel more candy off the ground every night than what you just ate.” Her eyes widened slightly, “and I do not put them back on display. Into the trash they go!”

 “Did a hurricane of school children pass through here? I don’t envy your work, though I do admire it.” She smiled at Hana’s offer, passing further into the candy shop; there was a familiarity to the bright walls and streams of candy, bringing Aera back to the joys of childhood. “Need a hand? I’ve been told I’m rather gifted with a broom - plus, it’d make me feel better about invading your store so late at night.” Aera had hopes that sweet, dear Hana, was amongst those not pulled into the fray, during the robbery. “You weren’t hurt, were you? During the robbery; despite living and breathing big news, I escaped any viable action. Strange though, isn’t it? How common now, extraordinary events are becoming.”

“You could say that,” she laughed out, “That’s basically what happened. A school decided to do a field trip that included my store.” Her brows raised, shocked at the offer of help, “You don’t mind? Only if you don’t mind. Otherwise I’ll still be cleaning up at the start of my next shift.” It was only partly a joke. “I can supply you with the cheapest of beers,” she joked again, only this time raising her glass up as evidence towards the drink. “A robbery?!” Was Hana that preoccupied with work and video games that she hadn’t even took notice of a robbery?! “I’m beyond happy that you didn’t get injured! That must’ve been terrifying.” Is that why her bank had been on her ass lately about her business loan? “Do you think they are all leading up to some big event?” She sure hoped not.

“  nerdy?  ”  he  hummed,  then  shrugged.  “  i  don’t  think  so.  ”  to  be  honest,  it  was  probably  the  least  nerdy  thing  he’s  heard.  like  damn,  if  she  was  nerdy,  what  did  that  make  him?  there  was  a  good  part  of  his  college  career  where  he  would  do  nothing  but  game  after  class,  in  between  classes.  “  ‘sides,  support  roles  are  important.  the  adcs  ain’t  nothing  special  without  their  supports.  can  make  or  break  a  game.  just  my  opinion  though.  ”  

“  maybe…  “  he  trailed  off,  as  he  punched  in  his  contact  info  into  her  phone.  there  was  a  good  possibility  that  these  men  weren’t  exactly  there  for  her  candy,  and  very  much  there  for  the  young  crowd  that  the  store  attracted,  but  he  wouldn’t  tell  her  that.  better  not  worry  her.  “  he  took  something  from  me,”  or  rather  someone.  “  it’s  very  important  to  me,  and  my  family  that  i  get  it  back.  ”  he  gave  her  as  much  as  he  was  willing  to  give.  people  didn’t  need  to  know  about  his  sister  missing,  and  he’d  like  to  keep  that  way,  least  they  use  it  against  him.  “ and  there  we  have  it.  you  can  now  call  me  whenever. “ he turned  the  phone  screen  to  her, where he proudly showed ‘jitae 😈’ as his contact name.

“  then  i  hope  we  catch  him  soon.  ”  for  multiple  reasons.  “  well,  i’m  here  now.  you  can  give  whatever  you  don’t  like  to  me.  ”  unless  it  was  cheese.  it  wasn’t  that  he  hated  cheese,  it  was  just  he  hated  cheese.  while  he  could  eat  it,  when  mixed  with  other  things.  eating  it  alone,  no  can  do.  “  really?  i  can?  no  take-backsies.  ”  he  truly  was  a  child.  “  though,  i  think  i’m  done  for  today.  i  no  longer  wish  to  read.  “  he  stood  from  his  chair,  care  not  knock  her  over.  “  need  a  run  home,  or  to  the  shop?  “

“Wait,” she sputtered out clearly shocked, “You play? Do you main ADC? We should play sometime!!” Her voice broke a little in her excitement, “I mean,” she bit back her excitement, “If that’s something you would be interested in.” League was, quite frankly, her favorite game at the moment. It was one of her go to’s when Jin was too busy to play Apex with her.

She watched him quietly as he punched in his number, and listened as he explained his situation, even if it was a little vague. She could put two and two together on what he had to ask. She supposed he thought this man might have something to do with the missing someone? That could be his sister? “Cute,” she replied instantly without thinking, her eyes grew wide at her realization, but she forced herself to remain calm. “I’ll just sent you a quick text and you can save my number.”

Hana gave an nod, “You can. Consider it my treat to you.” She was slightly taken aback as he mentioned giving her a ride back to her place, but quickly took him up on it. “Would you? Please? I actually live in a small apartment above the store so now you know where to find the infamous candy machine when it’s not at work.” she laughed softly at herself. “But, yes, I would appreciate that. I feel like I’ve been walking all day.”
