hello!! i am troxler (trox if you're nasty) and you might know me from my old experimental art blog @hand-in-hand-again . i've been inexplicably shadowbanned or something at my old main for like a year, probably due to an overzealous bot sweep, and i cannot get staff to respond, so. new!! blorg!!

i feel like i'm missing out on a lot by not having a functional tumblr - and i can Say Things without sitting there trying to strike the right balance between actually sounding like myself and fitting everything into a 240 character limit.

i was dropped into this simulation in the early 80s, i'm a disabled artist (vision impaired - [ask me about my atrophied optic nerves] - & have some other Issues so i use a cane) & my wife and i host two black cats, roughly 35% of a mannequin, and a whole lot of dolls.

all my art is trad/physical media, haven't figured out a way to make digital art accessible yet. maybe someday!! i like to sculpt in epoxy, plastilene, polymer & stone clay, i like to mold & cast, make & customize various types of dolls, & build puppets; i do custom framed work, mixed media & textile stuff like sewing & embroidery; i paint in oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache & water soluble graphite & i love ink, markers, crayons & whatever cheap & weird stuff i can get my hands on.

my favorite thing is horror coated in a fine layer of nostalgia & sprinkled with history. i tend to fixate on characters & concepts & do a lot of art about it - a habit i developed while i was re-teaching myself to draw after the changes to my eyesight. my output is largely therapeutic. sometimes people like it. maybe you will too!!

it's true!! i cannot seem to get this account reinstated. zero vis - i no longer show up in tags, likes and rb's from me show up as ghost notifs, and i'm blocked from commenting on anything. i've done nothing in violation of TOS, so it's a myskery!! if you'd like to keep in contact, i'd be happy to see you there!! if not, it's been fun. 👋

i do still make Alastor things (got a few cooking, in fact!!) but they will be posted in the new place, so tune in if you're feeling it 📺

So, have you watched the show yet? If you have, what do you think about it so far?

In my opinion its a little on the meh side : /

i haven't seen it in its entirety yet, mostly just clips (planning on a binge when all 8 episodes are out in February) ‼️

i will say that the whole shebang came at the mercy of levels of hype (and scrutiny) heretofore unknown to science, so i am not too surprised by the wildly mixed reactions i have witnessed

i made this horror with my own two hands. new old stock 1930s radio speaker restoration fabric, upholstery velvet, antique buttons, wool yarn, various remnants and chopped up clothing textiles, pancake pattern drafted by me then built up and needle sculpted to give dimension to his face, weighted with a pound or so of glass beads. yes thats a human sized chair. he's 4 feet tall and has a talkbox that plays a clip of dead air when you squeeze, but he won't tell you where it is.

This took several hours, it's a reverse coloring page. I started with the colors, using only my charcoal pencil tool, then drew the lineart on top of it. I like the idea of Rhedd not fitting his lineart.

I went back to add finer details later, as well as made the scary shadow overlay and the messy, smudged looking charcoal shading effect. The shadow is meant to be both behind him and over him.

The extremely sharp shoulders and overall longer expression and such are homages to @hand-in-hand-again 's amazing Alastor art. Please check out its work!!!

With @hand-in-hand-again 's blessing, I drew Rhedd in a style meant as a love letter to his amazing work. If you haven't seen his work before, I recommend checking it out!

And yes I was listening to The Mind Electric the entire time, how could you tell? I figured it works with Rhedd, considerin' his whole relationship with electric shocks. :P (He was struck by lightning.)

This image was both vent art as well as a way to try to vividly visualize the strangeness going on inside of Rhedd. You don't just make out with an Eldritch God and come out of that experience totally fine! (Rhedd would say that he's actually doing better than ever, thank you very much, the nonstop traffic and upsidedown voices are an improvement!)
