“ It’s a pleasure to finally be able to meet you, God.. How you managed to find a time like this, even in the situation you have been put in.. You never fail to impress me. “

His quiet voice and calm demeanor was something that could convince anyone, not a single crack in the mask he wore.. one that hid the excitement that someone would feel when meeting their favourite celebrity, but Kira wasn’t just that to Mikami. Kira was, well, the light guiding him in this cold and dark world. To have his efforts finally recognised, it meant everything to him.. Though he dare not speak of it.

“ I must ask though.. Why did you bring me here, I would assume there are obvious risks to this, correct? You shouldn’t be going through all this effort for someone like me, we have easier ways of communication.. “

     “ Why? Well, it’s simply because I had to meet you eventually. The sooner, the better, in fact … I would have hand delivered the note book to you if I was given the chance, Mikami. ”

     Yagami raises his hand slowly, resting the left side of his cheek against his fingers to seem less stiff and threatening. He definitely wanted to win over Mikami, and gain his complete trust. Not that he thought it would ever come down to it, due to Mikami’s devotion to Kira, but if Light were to be put into a situation where he had to write his name down… he needed to be absolutely certain it would be the last tie he severed.

“ …But you understood that I couldn’t do that because I was put into a situation where I couldn’t move freely. Now that I can, I obviously had to meet you. Besides, there are more pressing matters to talk about. ”

More pressing matters..?

Mikami looked up, focusing on the other in the room. Was something wrong? No, that couldn’t have been the case. He had devoted all the time he possibly could to furthering Kira’s cause, he had planned each moment of his day, making sure that no mistakes could have been made. These matters that Light had mentioned must have been something else. In an attempt to hide the moment of doubt that had crossed his mind, Mikami simply nodded in response.

“ Of course, Forgive me for questioning it.. It goes without saying that I have wanted to meet you in person for quite a bit now as well.. either way, what are these ‘pressing matters’ that you mention? If it is something in regards to our- no.. your cause, then know that I will continue to do anything to help, no matter the cost. “

     It was incredibly difficult to find an opening for something like this… Aizawa has been keeping metaphorically tight cuffs on me ever since Near brought suspicion back to me within the task force. Damn him, even if I’m acting as L…!

     Light rests his hands delicately on his crossed legs, narrowed eyes locked on Mikami from across the expensive looking table.
