I finally began taking this art form seriously in 2010 after graduating college and moved into a first real space in the summer of 2011. Reduce

When dealing with ink everyday, it is important for us to clean off the excess on our screens before washing them out into the drain.

Reuse

You will always find a few extra test shirts laying around in a screen printing shop, that is why we reuse what we can by cutting our test shirts into usable rags around the shop for jobs like cleaning off ink.

Recycle

Like most businesses, we receive a lot of boxes from shirt orders and other products. We will often repackage our shirts in these boxes and the rest that are damaged are always broken down into recycling.

Determining the Number of Colors

  The example above appears to be a three-color image when in fact it is a five-color image. The under-base white and highlight white both help improve the image quality. The under-base white is the foundation for the other colors to stand out, especially when printing on dark materials such as this red t-shirt. Highlight white is placed on after to help the white under-base ink "pop" on the shirt.

  It is important to know how many colors your graphic will be in order to stay in your budget while also attaining your desired image. Four or more colors can add up quickly, not because of ink costs, but because each color requires it's own screen. Screens are used in the printing process and are costly to maintain. If you are looking to order a large quantity of shirts, it may be cost effective to design a graphic that uses only three or fewer colors to produce.

   Most screen printing shops will quote you a great price, but once the job is ready to print many fees are added on top of your initial quote. Here at H&S we offer all-inclusive pricing so that the quote we give you is the price you pay. We want to make your printing experience easy and fun. What is important to you is important to us, and if you're not satisfied with your shirt design we will continue to make changes until you're completely satisfied.
