Gotcha. Well, it’s obvious you two are keeping them. Are you... back together? Or just going to co-parent? Mona didn’t seem the maternal type, but you’ll be a good counter-balance.

You’re right, I don’t want them to go through this because they’re gonna already have to deal with it with me. It’s hard. And it’s gonna be hard no matter what and I feel so guilty because this poor kid didn’t ask for this. Of course I’ll be there. I know the chances of it going down THREE generations is small but so is inheriting it from one but it already happened and I don’t want them to deal with it.

It’s a very rational fear, I agree, but it’s also one you can manage, Jordan. The guilt is a separate thing, though. This isn’t something you elected for yourself, you know. You didn’t select it along with dark hair when your single cell was randomly forming DNA. And it isn’t something that you earned or deserved, like some curse you’re passing onto your kid because you crossed a witch. It’s... I hate saying it like this, because it has such vague, negative connotations, but it’s nature.

You have a lot to rightly blame your father for, but do you hold this one thing against him?

Will you abandon them? Love them any less? Leave them to figure it out on their own?

Jordan, you’re probably the most well equipped person to help them navigate it if they’re diagnosed. You’re fully functional, you have a solid career, loving friends. I can understand that you don’t want them to have to share your struggles, but if they did have to. How would you react?
