Grid ep 3
Currently gridding/outlining episode 3, but im stuck on one particular part.
When Lucas is at Daniels house he has to get some reason to return home and then find his sister has been killed. The sister had attended the convention a few days prior and the killer went to murder her on the day Lucas happened to be at Daniel’s. The reasoning behind him having to go home is what im stuck on. originally he receives missed calls on his phone while he was busy playing games, but i thought about it, and i dont think if Luna was in danger she would call her brother, as that could put him in danger and this would be out of character for her. she would instead call the police or maybe she wouldn't be able to call anyone. I also realised that as Daniels father gets framed for Luna’s death it may be easier for him to be caught ‘red handed’ with a knife in hand. Originally i was going to have Daniels father place his prints on the weapon under the possession of the envy demon and he forgets everything, however it would be easier for the story if i had Daniels father was being arrested when Lucas and Daniel find out that Luna has been killed, and of course the father wouldn't remember anything from the time he was possessed.
As for the reasons for Lucas to return home, i have a few different possibilities:
1. Lucas is playing games when he should be studying for exams with Daniel, Daniels mother can kick him out as she feels hes a bad influence on Daniels studies.
2. Maybe Lucas receives a voicemail or text from Luna telling him he better be studying and not playing as shes eating dinner alone, or something, maybe he then feels guilty so returns home.
3. Lucas has psychic abilities, so it wouldn't be odd if he had a very bad feeling and felt he needs to return home. maybe the game hes playing could have hints in it at some foreshadowing, like a character in game looses their sister.
I think the middle one works the most but i could also couple it with a bad feeling, especially if he rings her and she doesn't pick up, so ill go with that one and then get some feedback, it may yet change again.
