To the little boy in Lorette (Poem)

Whelp, I forgot it is Alain Prost's birthday, so I whipped a poem about his life as a break from writing my fic. Enjoy! To Monsieur Prost, Many happy returns on your 71st birthday. To the little boy in Lorette, Slow down, do not rush yet. Your Armenian grandmother did say there's lots of sunshine in you. Now let me tell you your tale, will you sit still? You will have a lot of skills, Be it in a ball, acting or life's frills. But they all stood apart, When you had your first go-kart. A hobby you took with great responsibility, There was no denying your agility. Even the army could not stop your determination, Slowly though, you aren't just representing your town, but your nation. In this world you climbed to the ranks of Formula One, The world where your older brother was stunned. You are at the peak of motorsport, But alas sometimes it falls quite short. You witnessed a friendship of two black stallions crumble, And a team mate who could only grumble. The comraderies formed in the hotel dining room, Left sadly to their doom. In Zolder and Montreal death followed, Then in Hockenheimring came the guilt that made you hollow. Do not blame yourself, his blue eyes would say. We know what will happen to us if we continue this way. I will not tolerate this! You screamed. Hence everything will be changed to the extreme. A blunt Austrian will take you under his wing, From there, it felt like spring. 'Le Professeur', a nickname that will stick, Showing the audience how to be smart and quick. Two trophies that shows what your hard work could achieve, Even your Scandinavian teammates couldn't believe what they see. But then he came, from the tropics of green and yellow. A good friendship and an eager student, what a fellow. He was too blindingly fast and reckless, Believing the divine was with him that made him faultless. The bias started to show, In this team you worked hard with now painted you a foe. In Imola and Suzuka you clashed with him, As long as you won, though it felt grim. In this new team of red, A British lion wants you dead. You answered the call to fight both of them, Only one succeeded, as if wanting your life to end. A selfish reason, revenge for last year. I refuse to speak to him again, you hear?! The lion left, and another loyal young one came. Everything has gone to shit, and the team only have themselves to blame. A year long breather couldn't come faster, Now the buisnessman in the wheelchair needed a master. His old rookie was eager to learn, Oh, why not? What is one more turn? You gave everything you had to win your fourth. But that's it, no more. He didn't want you leave at all. As you entertained his long distance calls. Something was not right. The doom from your early days came ready to smite. Everything is wrong he says, and you will offer him some comfort, But at the Tamborello, death comes out triumphant. You will do right by his side. Though a part of you has died. Coming back to the sport is no mean feat, But you did it, with your own team. Though with little success, At least you did it with no regrets. You have three blessings in two boys and a girl, With their lives starting to unfurl.

You will help your own little boy succeed, In the car of batteries where the team follows your lead. His nephew joins the race too and they smile ear to ear. Sometimes you wonder if we didn't fight so much, would he still be here? Maybe the biggest blessing is that you live to tell the tale. The story lives on even when you feel your bones are beginning to frail. Now little boy of Lorette, you may go. But remember, think with your head and you will never go slow.

I'm so curious, reading your work and your snippets are so immersive mostly because of the detail you put in. How do you even do the research for this?! Is it pure determination?!

Also your fem prost characterization might be one of my favorite depictions of her ever, cheers :)

Hi there! A lot of it came from Podcasts that I listen to at work (Beyond the Grid, Bring back V10s to name a few) but I also do my own personal research at the local bookstore, and have a few books to add to my collection, namely Senna Vs Prost and Alain Prost's biography. Podcasts have been extremely helpful to get each person's tone, manner of speaking, etc, especially Jacque Laffite and Rene Arnoux where it might be hard to find their interviews unless you speak French (I don't). Also how I do my research goes something like this, let's take the 1984 Nurburging Mercedes race for example that I wrote in The Boy That Looked For The Sun. We only get a few photographs and the fact Ayrton was being picked up by Alain, I would think, okay how do I expand this, what is the atmosphere like, what is the car like? (Yes I actually had a W124 Merc as a family car once as a kid, so I remembered faint memories on the repairs being done where I channeled it into Elaine's inspection of the car.) So from there I think what are they wearing, the setting from location to location, and what is the point of each scene. From there I am already thinking that these two people would need to talk at one point, so I make a rough draft then revise so that it flows naturally and what would I think Ayrton pick up on Elaine. Physical attraction is easy if I say, "Those green eyes terrifies him in his sleep", but what about "Those green eyes look at him, an angry fire lit from his childish recklessness which made him go meek. A gaze that will haunt him in his sleep" . To me it adds more depth and there is a reasoning. I actually hold back on some details as well, because otherwise I would feel like I am writing a report and it limits on my creativity as well. Is it also determination? Well yes, I like my stories this way where we feel immersed into their world and recalling their thoughts. But also out of sheer respect as again, these are Real people, I felt the need to do the stories with justice and that means as beautiful and purposeful writing that I could muster. Thank you so much on my take on fem! Prost, but honestly the credit goes to Alain Prost himself for being such a character that it was fun to write for. However I did take a creative liberty here and as I was writing I imagined someone like Isabelle Adjani for my fem! Prost as she has striking eyes, which does remind me of Alain's in a way, both with a fierce vulnerability. (Also they share French and Middle eastern heritage, and bonus, she is the same age as the real Alain though lack of a crooked nose). This image is Isabelle Adjani in One Deadly Summer, released in 1984. I like to think that this is Elaine Prost at the airport, looking at Ayrton while not knowing what is really going on his head-

hi im following your fem!prost au and that snippet is making me so excited!!!! I love the disconnect between what ayrton as a young driver is absorbing and what elaine is feeling as she is trying to establish herself. It makes both works feel so distinct but at the same time they do feel like different parts of one story. All the best!!

Thank you so much for reading my stories, I had to do so much research into this (yes even my snippets, I had to go through Stefan's podcast with Beyond the Grid to understand his relationships with Ayrton and Alain and learned some useful trivia) while still taking creative liberties with as much respect as I can-

Though I can never guess what Ayrton is actually thinking, I can only see from second hand accounts about his behavior which made me think. "Who are you, Ayrton Senna when the cameras are not rolling, or when you are alone without your family, friends or the world of F1?" So from here I can only make educated guesses and add some creativity which helps me to write him. I also wondered why he was obsessed with Alain, surely there was something more based on the phone calls, posters and other people's testament that he isn't motivated unless Alain is racing which I hope to channel in my fics-

About Elaine, I was inspired by the idea that Alain's story was often misunderstood that I go back to his autobiographies and statements from other people who worked together with him. In light of it, I thought it might be a different tune if Alain was a woman, hence the creation of Elaine, which I try to stick as close to Alain as possible (again, with some creative liberties)

As for both their stories, Elaine's (It pays to be a woman in a world of men) is written as if trying to recall a memory, while Ayrton's ( The Boy that looked for the sun ) is written with a more imaginary element that I hope eventually turns dangerous ( still developing the story) but in a way it is the same but in two different point of views

Alain Prost became an F1 driver because of RPF ✨

Out of context this may seem far fetched but I have proof to bestow upon you all!

As I explained in my last post, Michel Vaillant is a French comic series written/drawn by Jean Graton (originally - now passed) which started back in 1957.

The series follows a fictional driver named Michel Vaillant and his various adventures in Motorsport. Michel’s dad has a car company (Vaillant) thus it’s his job the race in his cars. He does F1, Le Mans, Indycar…literally everything!

Initially, the races were vague, not outwardly mentioning specific drivers/races. But as popularity grew, the author started getting go-aheads and even requests to include real drivers and teams.

I would go as far as calling it a self-insert fic as Michel is extremely stereotypically perfect, great driver, a womanizer, successful, friends with motorsport champions - AKA completely typical to a Y/N character.

The author would go to multiple races every year to meet and talk with people in the paddock to get ideas/stories for his comics. Most notably, he was a great friend of Jacky Ickx and included him often in his work. This guy was literally writing RPF of his close friends!

Now how is this relevant to Alain Prost?

WELL - I picked up the first ‘integral’ of the og series (the first 3 comics in one album) and imagine my surprise when I find this:

Michel Vaillant has offered me a priceless gift: He opened the doors of motorsport for me. For this gift, I will remain eternally grateful to him.

I don’t know if a teen nowadays can understand what Michel Vaillant represented for the people of my generation. The TV rarely retransmitted the Grand Prixs, motorsport was a distant universe. I was twelve when Daniel, my older brother, brought home a Michel Vaillant album. I remember it like it was yesterday. Through reading, I could pierce into the mysterious world of motorsport, discovering all the ingredients: the cars, the men, the circuits, the way a team functions, the challenges, the intrigues.

Later, once I became an F1 driver, I re-opened my old Michel Vaillant. I wanted to know if the purity of childhood had embellished my memories. I was afraid of being disappointed, because I now knew behind the scenes. The charm was there once again…I actually even said to Jean Garton: it’s because he knew how to transcribe, era to era, the truth and the atmosphere of motorsport that Michel Vaillant remains relevant.

Then, I found myself (represented) in a Michel Vaillant album. It was magic: I had entered in the BD (hardcover comic) I read as a kid! I spoke to this legendary character, rivaled him on the track. I remember the reaction of my son Nicolas. He didn’t know much about my job. I didn’t want him to come to the tracks or watch the Grand Prixs on TV, in case I had an accident. Suddenly, I read in his gaze that I had climbed multiple step in his ladder of values. Not because I was world champion, but because I was shaking the hand of Michel Vaillant!

This is why it important for me to preface this ‘intégrale Michel Vaillant’. It is not simply a series of comics, but an incomparable piece which enables the discovery of motorsport from the inside, to enter this family which Michel Vaillant is now a part of. Without a doubt, it will inspire the champions of tomorrow!

DO I EVEN HAVE TO EXPLAIN?

Alain Prost, The Professeur, Senna’s main rival, most renowned French driver, became an F1 driver because of motorsport RPF. Without Michel Vaillant, he may have never even gotten into racing.

Hell, he even became part of the RPF himself! He really said:

So to anyone who says RPF is purely detrimental to the sport, think again!

Without RPF, Alain Prost wouldn’t be the legend he is. Senna’s career would also probably be very different!

Side note - the series is actually really fun! The drawings of the cars/covers are iconic!

Poetry I wrote in the spur of the moment

Well hello there! No WIP snippets from me (but I am still working on it!) but I did write some poems to help get me in the writing mood. Hopefully you enjoy it.

Poem 1: I slip the straps over my shoulder blades, Cold silk grace down my thighs. I know you love me in this colour shade, Brings out the colour of my eyes. The perfume glass hit the dresser, Your footsteps could not arrive quicker. A smirk on my lips as I whisper "Yes Sir?" All this skin is for you as I gave a little snicker. "Oh you minx." As if you lost your breath. I stood still as you came closer, no need to request. Fingers trace silk and skin as your lips lean to my ear "What a sight for the blessed." Could you hear my heart beating out of my chest? "A surprise." Your fingers tapped along as if to gloat. The cold metal and pearls send shudders down my spine and throat. I looked in the mirror, all glamorous to note. It's all for you, I quote. A necklace that serves as my leash and collar, Come now, we shouldn't keep them waiting on your splendor. Oh I know, showing me off is your highest honor. But wait till the moon rises, by then we would both be goners

Poem 2: We agreed to a temporary type of love. It just can't work with the distance. Yet I needed to know what's it like. To be in a relationship that everyone keeps talking about. A so called first date in the park, You brought over the toasted bagels and I brought starbucks. They tasted different, home-made you said. I lay down feeling content, hearing you mutter lines from your reading book. Second time around, I requested something sexy. I blinked when you came in red and gold, hearing my blood rush. A dinner date at an Italian, a stray hair on your cheek as you twirled spaghetti. What did your eyes say when I brushed it behind your cheek? On the third date we did a bookstore, I remembered you liked a certain type of books. We kissed as I pinned you to the shelves, Not realizing I acted on primal desire. I stopped counting since then, But I knew I had to spend my waking hours with you. What got my heart pounding was not the curves of your body, But when you got enthusiastic over your interests. The day you were supposed to leave came closer, And on our last night, I requested you in white. You came by my place, needing to freshen up. My mind froze when the bathroom door opened. Any man was lucky to have you in your veiled halo. My fingers danced on the cheap white satin then the tulle, I almost felt ready to say vows I didn't mean. Giving into both our carnal desires. I woke up to see you sleeping, Staying still, I need to remember you like this. I called a taxi and watched you go when you woke up, And then it felt heavy. I tried to continue my life, But I still see glimmers of you. We agreed. It was only temporary. Yet why is it I wished you'd stay? I lay awake in my bed when night came, Closing my eyes to meet you at last. At least you are there. For now, I will be content with your ghost.

Taking a break from writing- a day trip

Oh hi, me again! No writing snippets this time as I decided to relax and here is what I did:

Some people may not know this about me, but I actually love perfumes! Was curious on some new releases and I was looking for 80s accurate scents (thanks Mom and Dad for your feedback on how 80s perfume is strong to match the fashion and the cigarettes smoke!)

Oh hi, that is my skirt there with a Matcha latte, cookies and Pride and Prejudice in the park reading on my lonesome before I headed to a bookstore to find more F1 reading material (It didn't turn up so well)

Then it was time for dinner and for me to head back home~
