sometimes I feel like I’m in an artistic cocoon

Working as a gallery coordinator full-time has been such a switch coming from making artwork full-time, as well as working in art conservation.  Truth is, I haven’t made anything substantial since I got a job in January of this year. But I’ll tell you what, I’ve learned just as much in the past year about the art world than I have in my four years of college.  One day I will burst forth and make something fantastic, but for now I’m observing and absorbing everything around me. As my dad said the day I got my first job, “be like a sponge!” And that’s okay with me.

Quite frankly it's all I wanted out of tumblr anyway ;) Check out this amazing piece. It's under the movement of "Traces of Memory". A movement I've been creating in myself, unbeknownst that other contemporaries are in it. My heart's glowing. :)

Probably not going to complete that whole art challenge since I've been pretty busy, but I suppose I can show what I've been experimenting with. After senior project ended I had wished I had done more with the layering process and non-traditional color combinations, along with leaving part of the composition "unsaid" (I guess that's what you'd call it??) I like the atmospheric feeling as if you're peering into a drawing.
