“Oh alright, we’re stating here we go.” He said warming up like it was for the fight of his life. He jumped up a down a few time and rolled his head to get the cracks out. “Let’s go.” Chris said excitedly. The music began and he danced along. “Yup I got this.” He said making a face not sure if he do. “ I can read you like a magazine ain’t it funny, rumors fly and I know you heard about me so hey, let’s be friends.” He sung. It sounded right but he didn’t know.
Swaying along and dancing to the pop hit, Hannah sang along with both the track and the contestant, though her voice couldn’t be heard over either. At his correct lyrics streak, she clapped in encouragement, the rest of the small crowd clapping along to the beat and cheering him on as well. It wasn’t until it hit the middle of the chorus, that the music had stopped and the lyrics on the screen were replaced with blank lines indicating it was his turn to fill them in. Hannah pointed to him before cupping her hands over her mouth as a way of amplifying her voice, “What’s your answer?”
Diana hadn’t realized just how much she liked singing until she actually began to do so. The brunette wasn’t aware if she had a singer’s voice, especially since you couldn’t hear how really sound yourself like others did. It was a bit difficult to focus once Hannah began singing along as she tried to keep her laughter at bay. She was sure the expression on her face told Hannah what was going on in her mind. Moments later the screen went blank indicating that it was Diana’s turn to fill in the missing lyrics. Flashing her a smile Diana sang the next lyrics “And give me one good reason. Why I should never make a change.” She was sure the smugness was in her voice at the time.
In anticipation, Hannah had begun to incline towards Diana on the small stage, waiting for her answer and hoping for the best. Hearing her friend answer with the correct answer, she began to cheer and clap loudly, drawing even more attention to the small crowd that had gathered. “Correct!” She called out, her own applause starting a chain reaction. “Guess what you’ve won, contestant?” Hannah spoke into a second mic, “A Live 102.7 t-shirt!” Her words where accompanied with a laugh, knowing that the prize wasn’t that worth while, but the way in attaining it was fun. Grabbing it from the table, she extended it out to her, “Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans out there?” Hannah added, a grin on her face as she pointed to the rolling camera.
zara took the microphone from the brunette, unable to contain her grin. “ got it !! ” she responded when hannah explained the rules, heading to the adjacent stage. she gasped when the beginning chords of the bonnie tyler tune began to play. she gave hannah a thumbs-up before she began singing the beginning lyrics, “ turn around … every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never coming round … ”
She couldn’t help but let out a genuine laugh at the enthusiasm that left in each word with certainty from Zara’s mouth. Clapping in applause, Hannah threw her head back before jumping up and down in entertained amusement. Pointing dramatically at the other brunette, she began to lip sync to the other girl’s voice, every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears. Clutching her chest, Hannah clamped her eyes shut, shaking her head, continuing to mouth along the words, with Zara’s voice matching up with it. It wasn’t until the back up vocals kicked in that she actually vocalized, aiding in real life back up, “Turn around bright eyes!” Hannah called out, laughing at the off key and loud echo.
“I just… sing a song and the lyrics go off, but I have to fill in the blank, right?” Gigi hadn’t ever watched much television, but they could vaguely remember karaoke-style games that had been popular at some point. This one was mostly lost on them, but it was a guess. “I think I’ll have less chance of forgetting if I’m not being laughed at, but I haven’t made it this far in life being thin skinned.”
“Correct,” she concurred, nodding her head. “If you don’t know the lyrics, you’ve got one life line,” she added moments before What is Love, a song from Haddaway, began to blast through the speakers. To this, Hannah began to clap along to the beat, ready to embrace the lyrics that would stop halfway through the song, waiting for the contestant to fill in the string of ‘ooh’ in the composition. Pointing to them, she called out, “What are the missing lyrics?” Despite it being a trick question, as the missing lyrics was a running ‘oh’, her smile and eyes perked up, waiting.
@hannahpsd: patiently waiting for #OITNB to drop on Netflix.
Diana thought for second before shrugging, “Eh, there are worse ways to be embarrassed nationally so I don’t mind if it’s filmed. If it’ll help you, sure.” She told her with a smile before mentally prepping herself for the game. As the first song came up Diana watched the screen recalling the song before her turn was up to recite the coming lyrics.
In her typical extroverted nature, the younger brunette began to clap along with the beat, swaying around and dancing to the popular hit, singing along with Diana, though her loud and of key singing could hardly be heard over both the music and the mic. Laughing, Hannah began to film as Diana’s voice echoed through the mic, following along the lyrics displayed on the screen in front of her. It wasn’t until it hit the prechorus that the music had ceased and the screen showed blank lines, indicating what Diana’s locked in answer would be. “Well, what’s your answer?” Hannah asked, clasping her hands together with a huge grin on her face.
“I came to get drunk and find a cute guy to fuck, actually.” Dax blatantly answered, shrugging. “Just a t-shirt? For real?—What is Uptown Girls?“
At his question, all other thoughts flew out the window. “Oh my--” Hannah began, shaking her head and quickly snatching up the music machine’s aux cord and plugging it into her phone. The song Sheets of Egyptian Cotton began to play through the speakers, her brown eyes fluttering up to meet his, “The only thing you need to know about Uptown Girls is this incredible song,” she informed, dramatically lip synching to the song.
Dax let out a small chuckle. “I’d appreciate it if you did. Not a big fan of the whole–” He waved a hand at her general direction. “Pussy thing?”
“Okay but like, I’m great conversation,” she laughed, tucking hair behind her ear. “Especially when tipsy. You learn a lot about people in the in between stage of sober and smashed.”
“This should be the last of it from the car.”
“And now I think you need a well deserved break in either A) taking a stab at the lyrics to Lose Yourself and or B) watching me attempt Material Girl and or C) accompanying me to the cupcake booth for a snack.”
Strumming the guitar he finds it hard to not focus on Hannah, though he can only see her back while she plays he can still see her movements and the passion that they contain. He smiled at the back of her head as she sang, totally awed by her voice. Though she believed it wasn’t her strongest talent he had to disagree, and not willing to let her feel too shy about it he put as much effort into his own voice as he could carrying it as much as she needed to keep going till the end.
There wasn’t much that made the girl nervous, but this had fallen under that heavily. Hearing his voice float through the air made her stomach churn, and hear heart rate increase. There was something so vulnerable about doing and sharing something that she wasn’t confident in at all, especially with somebody with significance. Finishing up the song, Hannah could feel a brisk rise in temperature display on her cheekbones once again, clearing her throat and nervously laughing as she spun around on the bench, keeping her eyes low and anywhere but Auggie’s face. “That was very nerve wracking, and we’re never doing that again,” she laughed, a playful tone in her voice as she attempted to lighten the mood. Standing up, unable to hold down the growing nervous energy, she began to walk backwards, still facing him, “You know, for someone who has still, yet to shake my hand, that was very intimate,” her words were light, and accompanied by a teasing grin.
Not sure if a smile was best in this situation, Gigi kept their face neutral and nodded. “I’d like to try, I guess. You can’t laugh at me if I mess up though.”
“I can’t make that promise,” Hannah said, truthfully, a sly grin on her features as she tilted her head and handed the other the mic. She led them to the small four by four stage on the side of the booth that faced a television mounted up on the wall of the booth used to display the song’s lyrics. “Are you familiar with the rules at all?” She asked, grabbing the music machine’s remote and fumbling through it, setting it up.
“Hey.” A smile immediately appeared on Tyler’s face when he saw the girl’s enthusiasm. “Uhm sure… I might suck though.”
Grabbing one of the mics, she lead him in the direction of the small stage to the left of the booth. Mounted a few feet from the four by four wooden stage, was a television used to display the lyrics in the game, “Trust me, you can’t get worse than me. Earlier I thought the lyrics to Hey There Delilah were ‘we’ll take the bus and they’ll make fun of us,” she grimaced with a laugh. Handing him the mic, she pointed to the stage, “all right, so in a second this machine is gonna blast a random song and when the music stops, you’ve got to tell us what the next lyrics are. On the occasion you don’t know, you’ve got one life line. Are ya’ ready?” She finished with a huge smile on her face, Lady Gaga’s Poker Face beginning to play.
He waited for her to get everything all set up so he could start playing the game. “I’m signing?” He said laughing as he look towards the screen. “Well alight then.” Chris said ready for the challenge. He shook his head. “Nope, go ahead and do what you have to.” He told the girl getting ready for the game to start.
She nodded her head enthusiastically, pressing record on the camera that was facing the stage and now Chris, diagonally. Hannah quickly pressed the music machine’s randomize button, picking and landing on the popular hit of Blank Space. Clapping with excitement, the brunette began to chuckle and lip synch along, not needing the screen’s lyrics to know the words. “It’s all you, you’ve got this,” Hannah chimed, nodding her head.
“ backstreet boys ? ” she said with a grimace, honestly drew spent the majority of her childhood listening to 90′s hip hop though her sisters loved the backstreet boys she did everything she could to avoid them. Singing along to the lyrics that popped up on the screen.
An involuntary, huge grin began to spread across Hannah’s face, listening to Drew sing along, her eyes trained on the screen. Playfully, the brunette began to lip sync along, swaying her body in a dramatically entertaining way of dancing. Throwing her hands up, she laughed, pointing at Drew and continuing to lip sync. The lyrics on the screen read, ‘am I your fire?’ before throwing up blank lines and the music stopping, cueing Drew to fill in the lyrics. “Well, what’s your answer?” Hannah asked, eyes wide, grin just as.
Diana nodded walking out as Hannah held the door open, she flashed her a smile over her shoulder. “Aww, that’s lovely you live near the ocean. You must wake up to a beautiful sight each morning.” The brunette said as the two began walking towards the left side of the street. Noting the excitement that came over the young girl’s face at the mention of her dog. Her head turned so she could look over at Hannah while she spoke, “I can tell just by your excitement that I will love her. How long have you had Willa? No i don’t own one but with everyone near me having one or getting one kind of makes me re-think that. A friend of mine just adopted a cat. This way.” Diana added a second later as a white car came into view just a couple feet away from them. Once they stood in front, Diana unlocked it so Hannah can climb into the passenger seat.
“I definitely can’t complain,” she nodded, thinking about the small house that had been home for the last four years. “Honestly, I’m a little bummed that it’s dark out because it’s so beautiful to see during the daylight,” Hannah pouted a bit, hopping into the passenger side. “It’s surrounded by greenery so Willa loves it. She can run around without much intervening. I’ve had her since she was a pup, I got her ‘cause I was moving out of the dorms at the University and didn’t want to get lonely.” Her smile softened at the memory of when she’d first gotten her dog. “Oh yea? That’s so cute, I love cats. I don’t think I could own one, though, I think I might be allergic, unfortunately,” she grimaced. She felt the car rumble to life, “So you’re just gonna pull out onto the main road and make a left on County Line Drive. Then go all the way down until you can’t anymore. Super easy to get to.”
