Introduction to my project + OCs!

That Wasn't Supposed To Happen

First, I have to start off by saying that I started writing this book when I was 11—there's some things about the characters that might not be realistic, but it's been so long that it's just part of the characters and it feels wrong to change it, so please just ignore those.

This book may not ever get complete, but who knows. Regardless, the characters live in my mind, so I made this blog.

I don't want to say too much because I am overly paranoid and always have been of someone stealing my idea (which I know is unrealistic but I can't get over it, and it's extremely cliche—I mean, I was 11, what more can you expect, so I don't know who would want to steal it) but in short: Harper and her mother move to Paris together, Harper goes to a new school and makes new friends, but one particular girl keeps catching her interest—Annaliya. Annaliya isn't exactly warm and welcoming like all of her friends, and that intrigues Harper, makes her want to get to know her, so she does, slowly but surely, and slowly but surely, as the two grow closer, they both develop new, scary feelings that neither of them are sure they can face yet.

It is a teen/YA romance & coming of age book, but as I said, it's not guaranteed that I'll finish writing it, it's already been years lol, I've gone through like 4 different drafts because I never end up liking it and giving up halfway through to restart.

The main and most important characters (who I will be posting about on this blog—click their names to go to their character info posts) are:

Harper Bennett (our main character)

Annaliya Watts (our love interest, and circling back to what I said about things not being realistic, I doubt this is how you actually pronounce it, but this is how I've been pronouncing it for years, you're free to pronounce it how you see it though—A-nail-lee-yuh)

Camille Lowell (In Annaliya's friend group)

Jordan Spencer (In Annaliya's friend group)

Kian Lancaster (In Annaliya's friend group)

Camille and Kian were friends first in primary school, then Jordan joined them during collège, and a year or two later, Annaliya joined them (She was about 13), and lastly, Harper. So they've all been friends for a very long time.

Annaliya's older sister, Elissa, is like an older sibling to the group, all the kids parents trust her, and the kids love her because she's fun to hang around and chill/laidback. She never purposefully joins them, but sometimes they'll ask her to, and she'll agree or disagree, but never butt in without an invite.

okay we're gonna go ahead and IGNORE how cringe and how bad the writing is, this is it's multiple years old. but this is so them and i love them they are my babies.

I follow Jordan and everyone else, multitasking by also checking and replying to my texts. I fall a little bit behind, and Kian notices, stopping for a second to walk next to me and match my pace. We smile at each other and I feel the need to get off my phone, for Kian’s sake. It’d be rude if I didn’t, so I turn my phone off and put it in my pocket.  “You could keep talking. I will make sure that you don’t not get lost.” He says, his accent heavy, smiling. “No, it’s okay.” I smile back softly.  “Okay, well, if you want to, I will lead the way.” He smiles again, and I feel heat rising to my cheeks. I give back a soft smile and turn my head forward again, hiding my blushing face. I think he notices, because out of the corner of my eye, I see him smile. Jordan notices our falling behind, and he smirks as he talks, causing everyone else to look back at us. “This isn’t a rom-com, Kian.” I get the sense Kian is also blushing now, as a result of Jordan’s comment. “I’m just trying to be nice.” He defends, in a calm and nonchalant tone, as if it was a normal comment. Jordan gives him a look. “Mhm.” He says skeptically, Annaliya and Camille give each other a look. I can’t tell what kind though, it doesn’t seem like a joking one, like they’re tuning in on Jordan’s joke, but at the same time, I don’t have a great view of their faces.  “Stop.” Kian grunts, and Jordan smirks at him.  “Ooooh!” Jordan swoons. Kian blushes more.  “Shut up.” Jordan continues smirking. “Someone’s getting defensive.” Kian sighs, seeming to have given up on this argument. He ignores Jordan and turns towards me again, causing me to blush even more. “I do not like you. Not in mean way, but do you know what I mean?” He says, and I have to admire his cute English skills. “Yeah.” I smile softly. “Me neither.” I turn away awkwardly and focus on the path ahead of me. Jordan is whispering something to the girls.

(pretend they are speaking french ok also i was 13 writing this—this was made at the same time as my last post multiple years ago—so i know it's cringe, i promise the characters are more interesting than this, but i think this is still such a "this is so them" post so i'm uploading it—that sounds so contradictory but i hope it makes sense, it probably doesn't but i don't feel like explaining rn)
