Mark your calendars, Fannibals - we’re celebrating Hannigram Day for the first time on Monday, August 22nd, 2016!
Hannigram Day is a new holiday in honor of Hannibal Lecter, Will Graham, and the weird, wonderful fever dream that is their relationship. Creating holidays to celebrate iconic ships is totally a thing, and who deserves a place on the calendar more than everyone’s favorite murder husbands?
On August 22nd, 2015, episode 3x12 The Number of the Beast Is 666 aired in the US and its unforgettable opening scene gave explicit, textual confirmation that Hannibal was in love with Will (and suggested strongly that Will returned his feelings). Thus, the date has great significance specifically for Hannigram but doesn’t bump elbows with days of more generalized Hannibal celebration, like the Hanniversary on April 4th or the TWotL anniversary on August 29th. Let’s make Hannigram Day a new tradition - a day of joy and revelry celebrated every August 22nd for years to come, by old and new fans alike!
Whatever you want! The goal here is to initiate fandom-wide festivities rather than host a centralized, moderated event. So go wild! Make fanworks - gifs, art, fic, vids, elaborate tableau involving Funkos and ketchup, whatever tickles your fancy; rewatch and scream over your fave Hannigram moments; throw a party IRL (kalua roast optional) or host a Fannibal meetup; borrow any of these absolutely adorable ideas; eat weird food; wallow in exquisite emotions; cuddle your blood-soaked SO on a romantic clifftop; make a happy text post; WHATEVER. It’s a holiday - have fun! 🎉
