It hurts to love you, but I still love you It’s just the way I feel And I’d be lying if I kept hiding The fact that I can’t deal And that I’ve been dying For something real That I’ve been dying for something real

my American gf: pound me me: what’s that in metric
To misuse language is to use it the way politicians and advertisers do, for profit, without taking responsibility for what the words mean. Language used as a means to get power or make money goes wrong: it lies. Language used as an end in itself, to sing a poem or tell a story, goes right, goes towards the truth.

As liberals, we totally got the idea of patriotism jacked from us. When Trump asks for the worst of this country - like a Muslim ban, transgender bathroom bills, defunding Planned Parenthood - he’s considered to be the most patriotic. But when we ask for the best of this country as liberals - No Ban No Wall, Black Lives Matter, equal pay, gender equality, LGBTQ rights - we are considered anti-patriotic. When really, we’re the most patriotic. Fighting for equality is the most American thing you can do.

Friendly reminder to check you’re not holding tension in your body. Let your shoulders drop, unclench your hands and jaw. Take a deep breath. Much better.

How many men can say they looked upon the face of a god and lived? We always knew how this would end. Lover, you weren’t immortal, but your name is. Our names are. A thousand years on, people will still sing of us. Patroclus and Achilles. If we do not meet again, this will be enough. Both of our names resting together in people’s mouths the way our dead bodies lay together in the tent. It wasn’t a graveyard. I let myself love you in there.

The sanest thing in the world is love. And what is important is honesty.
