guaardian:
It was interesting to him that he was the first one she wanted to see, because excluding their duel before the end of things, and their occasional friction during meetings, Raphael and Mai didn’t really talk to each other.
But perhaps that was why.
Knowing who lived in Domino City and who else she’d worked with in Doma, Raphael was the easiest choice. A blank slate, even, once apologies had been said.
He dipped his head as he settled in. “I’m glad you did.”
He looked down and grabbed the menu as he considered her question, opening it up and checking out the drinks selection. “I suppose so,” he replied. “I have nothing calling me at the moment.”
He paused at her next question, considering whether he wanted a Doma reunion anytime soon. “Let’s just not say anything and see where things go. No need to make things weird.”
Mai placed her menu down, hand opting to rest on her cheek instead. Domino was definitely a strange case, but the familiar faces almost made it feel like home. This was a prime example, a strange level of comfort shared between them. Perhaps it was liberating for someone to already know her shortcomings and dirty laundry.
“Perfect. I’m far from done here.”
She shifted, hand sorting through her purse in search of her phone. A few clicks and it was unlocked and ready for Raphael as she held it out to him with a bit more enthusiasm than expected.
“I’m sure you’ll regret it as soon as I leave you a drunken voicemail.”
That was a testament to her loneliness, but she was quite blissfully unaware of the extent of it. She giggled, pulling the phone away once Raphael seemed to be finished. Quickly, she got out the camera, pointing it in his direction, but not taking the shot just yet.
“Will you pose for a contact photo or do I have to bribe you?”
