Find someone as sleepy as you.

This journal entry from 2 and a half years ago, deep in my eating disorder, about how I wasn’t sure I could both recover and empathize with clients as a future social worker, and how my ED was actually a “tool” is laughable. And sad. On Thursday, though, I felt small and embarrassed, when monitoring a meal…I felt like a patient again, and this journal entry was relevant. But the next day I realized what felt like weakness is a strength.
Someone on the unit said yesterday that she wants to be a therapist one day and I want her and anyone else using this as an excuse to know it a valid but unrealistic fear. Just recover, just do it. Then you can help.
i think we, as a species, should go back to saying ‘alas’

It’s a good metaphor tho, because the situation is never going to get better if you don’t eventually pull the door. And afterwards, no matter what the damage was, you’ll have a working cabinet, whatever plates you could salvage, and a place to start putting new plates.
