To be fair to the instructors at the Academy, it IS canon that Tom makes up his own ‘nursery rhymes’ (as B’Elanna called them in Drive) as mnemonic devices. So he probably came up with that one on his own.

PS @jhelenoftrek it is now accepted head canon that “Don’t hit warp 10 or you’ll have babies again” is one of Tom’s mnemonics.

Yes @captacorn, it most definitely is. And every time Janeway orders him to go to “maximum warp” he’s thinking that in his head….

I do appreciate that a show whose tagline is "to boldly go where no one has gone before" includes characters with major anxiety disorders for whom "boldly going where they've never gone before" just means confronting their crippling phobias.

we really don’t give Star Trek: Enterprise enough credit for all its heavy lifting connecting Star Trek lore. andorians are FOUNDING MEMBERS of the whole damn Federation and we don’t know hardly anything about them until ENT. and we’ve heard about Surak before a few times but never actually learn about his teachings in detail until ENT. not to mention ENT finally pushes back on the “whole planet of aliens is culturally homogenous” trope by creating different cultures of Vulcans. we only ever see a few Orions before the crew stumbles into them. the ship has no shields, can barely make Warp 5, and routinely gets its ass kicked but the crew is like “yeah we’ll take these dinky phase pistols and hazardous transporters and save earth” and by god they do it. we could never have Kirk or Picard without Archer.

Red alert for the Trek fandom! The free Pluto TV service has added a second dedicated Trek channel. The first channel has been there a number of years and normally shows TNG 24x7. Recently, it has started showing TOS in its entirety about once a week. The new channel is currently running DS9.

So if you're looking for a free, legal way to watch Trek, Pluto TV is currently the way to go. Paramount owns Pluto TV and maybe they're finally getting a clue that only catering to those who are willing and able to pay for their streaming service is cutting off too much of the potential audience.
