One of the strangest things i experience that has to do with my Alterhumanity and dypshoria is definitely my hope that one day it all turns out to be true for me

I don't even really know how to word this properly, but you know how in those movies and stories someone just lives a normal human life, not expecting anything and suddenly like the grandma or mom sits at the dinner table with them and tells them something like: "We're actually witches/shapeshifters/creatures" or something along those lines

Something inside of me hopes that this is the case for me. That one day my family will tell me that we're actually cryptids or some shit xd

I'm kinda embarassed to admit that on very dysphoric days this is the one thing keeping me going. The hope that maybe one day i really can turn into my actual forms, and actually live where i'm supposed to live and my family follows

Deep inside of me i know that this is just wishful thinking, but hey maybe not

I’ve had this art for quite a while I think it perfectly encapsulates my theriotypes for my vampirekin. I’ve always felt attached to animals that are considered a creepy or undesirable or evil for whatever reason.

The goat and the snake for their satanic ties, the wolfdog for its weird mixing (too wild to be a dog, too tame to be a wolf), the black cat for its bad luck myths, the hare for being the scarier version of the bunny, the crow/raven and the owl for being harbingers of death or misfortune, the rat for being plague bringers, the moth for its destructive habits of eating clothes, the lizard/salamander and the toad for their general grossness, the spider for it’s venomous bites, the bee/wasp for it’s sting, and of course, the bat for it’s negative connotations for practically all of the above.

Being a vampirekin, so close to human but not quite, manages to somehow teeter on that tantalizing edge of sentience and instinct, of being an animal and personhood, and it is that line that I find myself existing in society.

I often think about how great it would be if being Alterhuman or Nonhuman was more 'normalized'

Imagine you could just say "yeah i'm xyz" and no one bats an eye, or they even relate

Let's say more futuristic fantasy where they figure out how to make someone be able to easily shapeshift or something along the lines

On the other hand, it would be horrible

Considering how things already are, i don't even wanna know about the misinfo that would easily spread. People would recognize nonhumans a lot easier and at one point they wouls probably attack us

I mean, there's STILL people being Queerphobic like.

Man i just wish for a world where anyone could be whatever creature or thing they'd wanna be and it would just be ok

It's so "funny" when certain youtubers make videos about 'the Otherkin community' and it's just so obvious that they have done 0 research except maybe the most surface info

And i think it's a shame. Not just because of the communities, but also because it's possible to just spread some surface level shit and being able to pass it as "information video" which in the end is just "haha look furry cringe and mentally ill!"

Again, absolute shame. I'm pretty much convinced that if someone made a video still hating on Nonhuman or Alterhuman folks while STILL talking about actual facts there wouldn't be as much intolerance

But hey, saying "They're all cringe" is a lot easier than actually spending some time within the community! Also brings more likes!!

That time i gave one of those videos a try and whenever that guy showed a picture "of those mentally ill Otherkin" it was either people in obvious k!nk gear or just straight up furries. And there's sadly quite a few videos like that where only the title has anything to do with the actual community

I just wish everyone was a little more open minded

When i was at the Zoo and there was someone taking pictures of a red Panda
