Good to see that even top models do not have perfect bodies after children.
As Good As it Gets
So I wanted to write a blog about how exhausting and demanding the motherhood is. Today I have found out that my friend has a brain tumor with about 3 more months to live with it. She has a 3 year old son...
Praying for her and her family...
I am actually very grateful for every night that my baby wakes me many times, for every smelly diaper I have to change, for every cry I have to soothe and also those lovely smiles and bubbling and cuddling. You never know how long it will last so better make most of it and ENJOY!
A few shocks after you give birth
I used to be a good looking woman with a very good career. Unfortunately (but very fortunately for our household) my husband has a very good career as well. So it was natural that I would stay at home with a baby since I am the one with the milk and so on. No magazines, courses or friends with children could prepare me for what was about to come.
Giving birth is one thing and it hurts a LOT but I survived and thought that is it. Done it! My beautiful girl showed me very soon that no...that was just the beginning.
I know no news for the parents, but just to get it out there - these are the horror things about having a baby for me:
1. You have no time to recover yourself, you have to start caring immediately after you give birth.
2. You do not get a good night sleep....maybe for years.
3. No matter how great celebrities look few weeks after birth your body might NOT look very good even after a year.
4. You cannot go and do whatever you want anymore.
5. You put your whole life on hold while it seems your husband keeps his and you start hating him and then hating yourself for hating him.
I would like to write a separate article about each of my points. Since It might seem strange to some moms that I complain about staying at home, I would like to be specific and say that I live in the Czech Republic where you get leave from work for up to 3 years of age of your child (with a little pay). Americans might think this is heaven because we do not “pump and work”. Well, from my perspective, it is more of a hell. Educated women get overlooked work-wise because they might have or had children and men who are unlikely to be stay-at-home dads (but it is possible here and one of them writes very funny books about it) get promoted over them. If you are a “horrible mom” like me and you want to go back to work after one year or a few months, you have not much options where to put your baby. Either an expensive nanny (not many of them here) or a very expensive nursery and there is also just a few of them.
Moms are super humans
Until I have recently become a mom of the most beautiful girl in the world (objectively), I had never really liked moms. I don’t mean my mom or a specific mom. I mean moms as a kind of special humans with super powers and knowledge their claim to possess and you don’t, because you have no children. You don’t know what it’s like. How important is to feed the little one only bio, free range, stop using perfumes and choose the best diapers there, possibly also free range and bio. Well-educated, beautiful women turned into creatures with oily hair in pajamas, no make-up, and no sense of humor. That is how I saw them.
In March 2016 I have turned into one super human myself and now I want to apologize for what I used to think. Moms are the best! Motherhood is the most difficult job in the world. You have no freedom, no pay (except for the cute smiles of your baby), no sick days, free days, no nothing. You are there for a little version of yourself 24/7.
It does not matter whether you are stay-at-home mom or working mom. (Even thou I admit I am the first one and cannot wait to become the second kind in the few weeks). It has been almost a year at home for me and I just want to hit the wall with my head. Your life is totally different, totally not about you anymore. So I thought I would dedicate this blog to my life with a baby, to the hardest and weirdest time of my life. I would also like to share some tips how to survive it and still be yourself.
