My favorite type of hero is one that doesn’t think about being a hero - they’re not sitting in their cubicle at their 9-5 thinking “gosh, I’m the Hero and the reason people are safe is because of Me."

They’re interacting and fully engaged with their community on multiple different levels - as a plus one at a friend of a friend’s baby shower, a fan at a concert of a homegrown pop superstar, sitting uncomfortably as the center of attention at a promotion announcement.

So when the time comes to defend/protect, it’s not just because they have the power and so must bear the responsibility. It’s also because this community MATTERS and if the sun doesn’t rise the same tomorrow, they’ll be sitting in the darkness with their neighbors and they want better for everyone including themselves
