Pacing back and forth in behind one of the few bars he’s deemed up to his standards, Roman puffed away anxiously at his cigar as he waited for word from one of his guys. A tip off from one of the cops on his payroll had given him a few hours notice of a raid on one of his warehouses and the evacuation was currently underway. Not of personnel, the rent-a-thugs he had stationed there were a dime a dozen, but the product, now that was important. Crates upon crates of illegal firearms were stored in that particular warehouse, enough to bury him if they could be traced back to his organization, and if there was anyone willing to prosecute.
It was times like these that he sorely missed having Neo around. He’d never had to worry like this when she’d been around, handling jobs like this personally. It was a level of competence he just hadn’t been able to find replace, and he made sure to let Perry know it often. With that thought, Torchwick pulled out his phone and dialed said lieutenant, intent on both demanding answers and cussing him out when the object in question was snatched out of his hands.
“What the hell do- Neo?”
@harlequiet
Neo was getting nowhere. All of her efforts into finding Roman were just met with her instead meeting complete strangers in this little cozy town full of people like her. Some weird normal boy, a girl around her age with superhuman reflexes, a weirdo who liked the rain a little bit too much, and some... pig that probably hadn’t seen a woman before that wasn’t his own mom. None of these people, regardless if they were nice to her or not, were going to help with finding Roman. So Neo took matters into her own hands. If these random citizens weren’t going to help her no matter what she did, then she’d have to go out of her way to do so.
The illusionist walked into one of the many bars that were open in this quiet town. Quietly folding away her parasol, Neo huffed and scanned the occupants around her to see if anyone, anything resembled her former partner in crime. She was just about to leave and try again at another bar when a flash of ginger hair caught her eye as Neo held her breath. Her eyes widening, a million thoughts swam through her brain as she wondered how she should approach Roman.(?) For all she knew, it could be a ploy... Oh well, it couldn’t hurt to try. Almost gracefully, Neo walked over and snatched the phone right out of Roman’s hands. Glancing at the caller ID, Roman’s voice made her look up again as a sly smile stretched her face. Well, that was definitely Roman alright.
“Miss me?” she signed, a real, genuine smile crossing her features this time. “I can’t believe you already replaced me!”
