HISTORY
x. Harley was born into a dysfunctional family. His parents were both young, and they were neither ready nor willing to be parents. While he was growing up, the house was full of people he didn’t know, and parties kept him up most nights.
x. Harley eventually got used to being invisible in his home. It wasn’t until his younger siblings arrived that Harvey decided he couldn’t hide anymore. He needed to protect them and take care of them.
x. He might have only been a child himself, but he learned how to change diapers and feed them, and more often than not, he kept them inside his bedroom during the nights when his parents were throwing one of their parties. He woke up when they cried and fed them when they were hungry.
x. As he grew older, he began to stand up against his parents. He argued with them, which resulted in them leaving from time to time. Sometimes it only lasted a day, but other times they were gone for an entire week. As difficult as it was to take care of his younger siblings, he still cherished the days when they were alone. The parties finally stopped, and as odd as it may be, they finally began to find normalcy amid all of the chaos.
x. Harley realized that he needed to make money for the kids, so even though he was only thirteen years old, he was incredibly resourceful. He started to work odd jobs whenever he could, and sometimes he would even fight other people for money. No matter what, he always made sure he had enough money to pay bills and have enough food for the kids.
x. As much as he loved his siblings and would do anything for them, he one day had enough. He was fifteen years old. He was failing all of his classes because he was too busy working and taking care of the kids to study, so during one of his arguments with his parents, he threatened to run away and leave the kids behind.
x. They had argued multiple times before, but never like this. Blinded by his anger, he even accidentally came out as gay. After the argument died down, they left. He assumed they would come back like they always did, but they never came back.
PRESENT DAY
x. It’s been twenty years since his parents left. He not only raised his siblings as if they were his kids, but he also started to take care of kids and teenagers who needed help in the neighborhood.
x. He made sure there was always food on the table for those who might need it in their community. If anyone got into any trouble, he was the one who dealt with it. So in a way, he became the neighborhood dad, even if he was barely even older than the rest of them.
x. Back then, he was young and foolish, and he regularly got into fights. Harley was sure the only way he could support his family in the neighborhood he lived in was to commit crimes, but Harvey soon realized he couldn’t risk it because if he would get into trouble, he could potentially lose his siblings.
x. He had no idea what he was doing with his life until he witnessed firefighters saving a family from a burning building. That’s when it hit him. He could continue to serve his community while also making money to help his family.
x. He’s been a firefighter for around 13 years, and it’s one of his favorite things in the world to do.
x. Even if the kids are all grown up, he still takes care of them and the community. Every morning there’s a breakfast where people can come and eat breakfast together before school or work, and when someone’s in trouble, they can still look to him for help.
