BIOGRAPHY.
Harlow was the miracle Maxwell and Lucille Hanlon had always hoped for and more. In love since the tender age of 20, their educational ventures were their lives' sole focus for many years. They finished their studies, began to work as attorneys and earn a good living for themselves. It wasn't until Lucille and Maxwell neared their 30's, a time at which they'd been married for almost five years, that they began to wonder, if a child might not be just the blessing they needed to perfect their life as a family. Though luck wasn't on their side. Years of fruitless hoping and trying to conceive a child went by and weighed heavy on their minds. Especially Lucille's. The endless string of disappointments and visits to multiple doctors offices, wore her down. Just a few weeks after Maxwell had first proposed the idea of an adoption to his wife, their biggest wish was granted and nine months later, their first and only daughter, Harlow, was born.
All the memories of her childhood were doused in bright sunlight.
There was not a single thing the little girl had to miss. Raised in Emerald Mist, there was not a single care in the world for the Hanlons, especially their daughter. Showered in love and adoration by her parents and extended family, the girl got her every wish granted. Only the best was just about good enough for their daughter. Maxwell and Lucille were so lovestruck by their little girl, with eyes bright as a summer sky and hair like liquid gold, they barely realized just how much they pampered her. Harlow grew up to be exceptionally bright. She was a curious child, inquisitive and bold and unafraid. She had never learned the limitations of healthy boundaries or the importance of the word 'No'. How could she? After all, she was a girl who got everything her heart desired.
Harlow had always been a smart kid. Always on top of the class, without having to put too much effort into her studies. The pride her parents took in their daughters intelligence and grades, her name on the dean's list, justified the excessive shopping sprees their daughter engaged in, in her teenage years. Harlow lived her life for the moment, didn't have any long-term goals, like her parents, which lead the young girl, on the threshold of being a woman, to dismiss the opportunity of going to university, to build a life for herself. Instead, Harlow continued to live in her parents lavish house in Emerald Mist, continued to spend their money on clothes and makeup and parties.
At one such outing, an innocent game of Truth or Dare resulted in the disappearance of her classmate, who has not been found to this very day, the search ongoing for a decade.
Her outgoing and excessive lifestyle lead Harlow to know a lot of people, though you could hardly call them her friends. The idea of what made a friendship was foreign to the girl, as she's never known of the importance of loyalty and empathy. Harlow had never had to learn the important lessons in life, never had to tighten her grip around reality. What it means to work for your money. How important the loyalty of a real, profound friendship truly is.
It was a slow process. A slow build up, to Maxwell and Lucille realizing, that their daughter, now on her way of nearing her mid-twenties, did not seem to plan on getting her life together any time soon. Talks were held and it didn't take much more than a handful of fights with her parents, until the young woman found an aim in life, something to work towards. Moving to LA at age 25, Harlow began her studies in fashion design, excelling at each class and graduating soon enough at top of her class.
As a new opportunity presented itself, the chance to work at a new fashion store as an assistant manager, Harlow seized it, moving back to her hometown mere four years after her departure to California. Living in a downtown apartment, Harlow is still proven to be oblivious and negligent toward any and every inconvenience, lavishing in her lifestyle of glamor, although not quite as much as it once has been, still not used to receiving "No" for an answer. Though she now is more responsible than in her early teenage years, Harlow can't shake the importance of other peoples' approval, wants to be adored and mistakes every smile for kindness. On bad days, it means much more than things that truly matter.
