Bridget: She shifted her eyes down, looking up at him through her lashes, unable to make full eye contact as she let him do all the talking. It was only fair of her to let him say his peace, get it all out. They had fought about her leaving before hand, and he was right, she had just left. Gone and honestly never looked back. She had wanted to argue, opening her lips slightly that she hadn't run. At least not from him, but she stood there, watching his lips, her mind thinking of other things as well. Who was she to argue with him with what he said was true? She didn't follow his path of vision as he looked to the door and instead rolled her eyes at him. She was ridiculously good at pretending that everything was fine. If only he knew the half of it. How she had even convinced herself that everything was fine, even as she'd come home to the red eviction notice on her apartment door a few nights prior. But she wouldn't tell him that, wouldn't express that she had failed at her dreams, that he had been right all along that she shouldn't have left. She wanted to argue that he never believed in her, in a desperate act of defense, finally breaking her silence. "We were okay, and you know that's not true. I never pretended anything with you. And you're right, I'm here to rest my wing, was looking for some familiar faces after seeing new ones each day." She shook her head, letting out a small huff of anger, crossing her arms bitterly and taking another drink. "Fine, then don't take it. But it's there, I said it, conscience cleared. What would you like anyway? Another drink?" She shrugged her shoulders, giving him a daring look and sighing, trying to present herself as light an airy, as inside, she tried her best to do exactly what he'd just accused her of.
Chris: “Really?” He was so defensive that not even the drink he had just finished was calming him like he thought it would. Here he was trying to move on and actually go on a date only to see her. The one person that he thought had moved on and far away from him. “Were we good because where’s the proof to that?” He didn’t even want to argue with her but it was like he was only doing it for the closure he needed. “Funny, a really poor apology and you’ve got a clear conscience.” It only solidified his thought that he didn’t mean much to her. If he dind’t mean so much to her then why should she mean anythign to him? His face hardened as he continued figuratively swatting away her words. He wasn’t here for her apologies or to even be around her. He didn’t want to hear about how she was only here to rest her wing. “Glad I could serve as your familiar face,” Chris wanted to move away from her. The memories suffocating him. The thought of how she was the person he would often dream about, only waking up to realize that she wasn’t there. He thought about how she was still the name he would search if he ever was bored at home and had a computer in front of him. She was the person that had stopped his life when he left. He didn’t want to hurt because she had just left without so much as a goodbye. “I can’t do this.” His adam’s apple showing the struggle it was to push the lump down his throat. It was as if life was telling him not to move on no matter how much he wanteed to. “I’m supposed to be here moving on or getting over you.” How stupid was it that he was still getting over someone who seemed so fine without him. “Fucking Kismet.” He looked around looking for his date, but not catching sight of her. For all he knew she had backed out and hadn’t even told him that she wasn’t going to show.
