As a child, Jaskier had been cursed with obedience. Heād told Geralt early in their travels, so the Witcher wouldnāt accidentally command him to do something. Geralt had sworn to never use it against jaskier.
But then⦠the mountain, when Geralt deliberately used jaskiers curse against him, casting him from Geralts side, and all the way back to lettenhove, into the hands of his familyā¦
Jaskier has stopped struggling and fighting by now, his eyes dead and heart shattered. One night, he made his way to the bridge over the waterfall. He stood on the railing, and decided this would be his last act of free will.
But, then, Geralt appears to stop himā¦
Someone must love you without any strings. That was the way to break his curse of obedience.
But Jaskier knew now that this was impossible. With the curse, he was the perfect doll; without it, he was nothing.
So Jaskier stood atop that waterfall.
āJaskier, stop!ā Geralt yelled.
The bard became frozen in place. āReally, Geralt, you canāt let me have this one thing,ā Jaskier replied.
āIf that one thing is for your death,ā Geralt said, āthen no, I canāt let you have it.ā
Jaskier let out a bitter laugh. āWell, come on then, order me off the legend. Come command me to be your punching bag again. Or better yet, how about I come suck you off, I am the witcher whore you know.ā
āNo your not,ā Geralt said, taking a step closer. āYour Jaskier, and I promised you a long time ago that I wouldnāt give you any orders.ā
āPeople break promiseā Jaskier answered.
āThey do, I did,ā Geralt said, āand Iāll always be sorry about that. After this, if you never want to see me again, thatās fine, but I think youāll want to hear what I have to say.ā
āWhat would that be?ā Jaskier asked skeptical.
Geralt took a deep breath. āJulian Alfred Pankratz, you will no longer have to obey.ā
For the first time in his life, Jaskier took a breath
