Afraid of Heights

"You really think that throwing someone off the ferris wheel is too gruesome for the man that beheads half the town?" Lile can’t help but let out a dark chuckle. "I may be stupid, but I don’t have a death wish, Harry."

Lile’s breath hitched at the closeness of the man to him. The last time they had been this close- other than their screaming match- Harrison had left him the next day… leaving him alone without even so much as a warning. Just like that, Lile was furious again. It took all that was inside him not to yell out. “Win me back?” Lile scoffed. “How do you plan on doing that? YOU left ME, not the other way around. YOU left ME in the dark, not knowing what happened to you, or if you were dead in a ditch somewhere… YOU left ME a pathetic note as an-” in the middle of his rant, and atop the ferris wheel, the ride suddenly comes to a stop- not in the designated stopping zones. “Oh great… we’re fucking stuck.” Lile mutters after an announcement was made through a megaphone. “I guess you get your wish. Try and win me back. Talk to me. Why should I forgive you?”

When it came to Harry, he knew that Lile wouldnt throw him off a ferris wheel. Not unless he killed Lile and he miraculously came back to life to throw him off. Highly unlikely. Harrison had no intentions of stopping him mid sentence to say something. He let him speak and when he suddenly stopped mid sentence the ferris wheel had stopped as well and Harrison could tell something was wrong. He could see the towns outside their own, knowing they were very high up at this point.

Harry could feel his hands clamming up as he got nervous. Lile was yelling at him now, anger clear in his voice. "I tried to save this fucking town!" he yelled out, fortunately the two seats above and below them were empty. Harrison breathed heavily and tried not to look down, but in Lile's eyes, finding slight comfort in them. "I left because I heard of someone who could possibly have helped with getting rid of the Queen and saving our town, putting the White Queen back in control." he spoke "I didn't want you to come. People had already started suspecting our relations and If you had disappeared with me everyone would have known. Plus I needed to do it on my own..there are things from my past you don't know Lile and really no one does things that scare me, you being angry at me scares me and being stuck this high up scares me."

Jane shook her head a bit and made sure to keep her eyes trained for her feet or just above his shoulders. “It’s alright, sir. I’ve been to the lake before. It’s nothing new.”

He wrapped the towel around his waste and cleared his throat "Hows your day fared thus far? I hope less...painfully?"

Lile went to go unbuckle his seatbelt but the operator had already put down the bar over their laps and they were off. As they rose above the carnival and above the town, Lile was temporarily mesmerized by how beautiful everything looked; twinkling lights and fog rolling over the distant hills. Huffing, Lile crosses his arms and turns to Harrison. The color of his eyes catches him off-guard, and he almost forgets that he is supposed to be mad at him. He is supposed to be mad at Harry for leaving and abandoning and just plopping down next to him like nothing had changed between them… but he couldn’t. Lile almost wanted to crack a smile.

"Not afraid of heights… but afraid of being stuck up here with you, is more appropriate to say." Lile shook his head, trying not to smile. "What are you even doing up here with me?"

Harrison wasn't going to admit how much he didn't want to be on the ride at all. One think Harrison always did enjoy though about the ride, was what you could see from the top of it, and from that location alone. When you made it to the top of the ferris wheel you could see outside the village grounds. The area that the Queen never let a soul enter or leave from. It was proof that there was life out there, and of course Harry knew it better than most. He had escaped the town and the wrath of the Queen was yet to be felt, however he knew it would come soon.

When Lile tried to force away a smile, Harrison's heart fluttered. Maybe there was hope. Harrison heard the question and he had to take a steady breath not to puke from fright and nerves "I knew you wouldn't speak to me on solid ground. I figured throwing me off a ferris wheel would be too gruesome for you if I angered you. While it's dangerous, this is also safe and secluded." he shrugged and tugged at his suit jacket trying to get a little comfortable. The seats were made for cute, small couples but Lile was a rather large man, with muscle and thick armor and clothing and while most thought Harrison to be scrawny, no one except Lile and two others knew of his obsession with staying fit and muscular. They didn't exactly fit the best together in the seat. "I'm here to win you back." he said simply

Harrison was sure the fair would just be another event in the town people forced themselves to endure for the Queens sake. However with her lack of evil torture and the quietness of the kingdom for months, people seemed to be taking advantage of the happiness they could have for now. Harrison wondered if he too should go out and enjoy it. Except that enjoying anything was impossible since he got back to town. Even before he left.

Lile has avoided Harry and Harry avoided Lile. Anyone that knew them didn't think much of it, but the few who knew OF them were either upset or annoyed. Harry had gotten himself in a bit of trouble since he got back, alcohol becoming his new friend. Truly he was now probably an alcoholic. But that didnt mean going to the fair was off the books. He was sure Lile wouldn't be there. He didnt attend these type of things.

Harrison dressed in his finest handmade suit of bright blue and brown. Today he sported a tall top hat with a price tag on it decorated nicely incase he could sell a hat while he was there. "(10/6)" is what it read.

He headed to the ferris wheel which used to be a favorite of his until he realized one day that heights weren't his strong point. He got in line and noticed Lile at the front. Oh god oh god.. he thought to himself. He needed to do something. He saw him sit in the seat and something came over him. He ran up to the from offering the twenty dollars he had in his pocket to let him skip and he sat in the seat next to Lile. When Lile turned to look at him, it was the first time their eyes had met since their fight that, Harry thought would kill him. Yet he was alive and if this failed he would die, at his own hands. He couldn't live any longer without him. "Hi." Was all he could say "You afraid of heights?" He joked in a not so amusing way.

"Oh yes..no it's quite alright." he cleared his throat, wrapping the towel around his neck "I needed to get out of the shoppe for a bit and asked Isabelle to hold down the fort." he looked down at his lack of clothing "Sorry for my indecency."

Harrison stepped out of the lake, hoping the dip would clear his head. But he was more upset than when he started. He heard a sound from around the trees that covered the lake. He grabbed his towel and furrowed his brow "Hello."

"Why would you need to protect her from me? I only said she was nice. And in case you can’t tell,” Paul snapped, gesturing to his admitted slightly scrawny frame, “I’m not exactly a huge physical threat to her safety. And even if I had muscles to speak of, you have no reason to believe I would be. After all, I just said she was nice.”

Harry had plenty he wanted to say to him, his bad moon getting increasingly worse. "I'll take, my cabinets now....please." he mustered the words out as if it were agonizingly painful.

Never said I did. Why would I feel special? I’m just an ordinary woodcarver. It’s not like I’m the best woodcarver in town or anything. That would be different. Woodcarving anyone can do. Takes no skill at all.

I mean, if I were, say, the best hatmaker in town, like yourself, I’m sure I would feel entitled to condescend to lowly woodcarvers like myself. I mean, it’s not like you had asked me to do something you couldn’t do, or anything. This is nothing special, right? I’m just nothing special.

....yes, I can't carve wood. Yes, you are very good at it. No, it's not that special. I'm protective of my friends is all..or lack there of.

Come by tomorrow though and maybe I could take a look at your wounds. I'm no doctor but in my time I've seen the closest to death, and fared well in helping them.
