summary: Alone time in Winnipeg is hard to come by so you and Nolan take every chance you can get. This time with just the two of you happens to be a night drive around the streets of your hometown.

MASTERLIST

1:42am.

Every time you get a glimpse at the clock a little more anxiety spreads through you. The longer you take to fall asleep, the harder it gets.

The warmth from your comforter is too much so you throw it off to the side and stick with only your sheet. After a few more minutes of trying to lull yourself to sleep you begin to shiver. You can’t win, too warm with the comforter on and too cold with it off. Even May in Winnipeg can cause a chill to spread over you. Unfortunately, you’ve been up for hours or rather you never went to sleep.

You roll onto your back exasperatedly and sigh into the darkness of your room. Instead of wasting more time lying wide awake in your bed, get up onto your knees and look through the window to the house across the street. Your boyfriend, Nolan, lives in the bedroom directly across from you, your windows looking straight into each other’s. His lights had gone out two hours ago when yours did after you had been facetiming while he was playing video games with his buddies. You look for movement of any kind, but can’t seem to see any.

Nolan and you had only been dating for about eight months, but you had been best friends for longer than you remember. It was the ultimate slow burn and incredibly worth it. Somehow, you had ended up in Philly for school and apparently all it took was time away from friends and home to see how you really felt with each other. Neither of you knew the feelings were even there until some friends in Philly pointed out how your relationship was different than that of others.

Instead of wasting any more time on your own you decide to shoot a text to Nolan to see if he’s asleep or not.
