hello everyone! as you may or may not have noticed, we, @lanaturnergetup and @solongdaisymayy, decided to shut down the server a little while ago. tldr of it all is that life got in the way, and the admin team found it exceedingly difficult to keep up with moderator duties and make the space as engaging as we'd hoped—or as it truly deserved.

that being said, if anyone is interested in creating a similar space for POCs and allies in the Harry Potter fandom, we'd be happy to reblog and help promote it!

Upcoming Monthly Mini: 15 December in honor of Angelina Johnson

The Ladies of HP Fest will be holding bimonthly (twice a month) mini events centering on one female character of the HP series. For our third one on 15 December, we're honoring Angelina Johnson!

To participate in our monthly minis, simply post your fic/art to Tumblr and tag @ladiesofhpfest and/or post it to the monthly mini channel on Discord.

Details on monthly minis:

Minimum word count: 100.

Only original written fics and created artwork will be accepted.

You don't have to be part of the server to participate! You can always post to Tumblr and/or AO3. If you post to AO3, you are encouraged to post to the monthly mini collection at: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/ladies_of_hp_fest_monthly_minis/profile.

Unless otherwise stated, monthly minis will take place on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Secrets - Dorcissa oneshot

Written for @harrypocter's Colours of Autumn event (prompt: chai) and @hpsaffics' Sapphic Bingo event (prompt: secrets)

Title: Secrets Pairing: Dorcas Meadowes/Narcissa Black Rating: T Words: 1550 Summary: Narcissa Black's coming out has been in all the papers. Dorcas decides to tell her something that the rest of the school doesn't know. She's not sure why she does, but she's quite glad for it in the end. Link: AO3 Excerpt:

“Narcissa?” Dorcas asked, and Narcissa only hummed, raising an eyebrow at her. “Pretentious name.” “Thank you,” Narcissa said, as stoic as ever. Dorcas sighed. She sat down on Narcissa’s bed and pretended not to notice Narcissa’s frown. “A star?” she asked, only to be polite. To stall time. “No.” Narcissa did not elaborate. Dorcas knew there was a reason they’d never gotten along. She reconsidered her original plan — maybe it was stupidly naive to come out to Narcissa. But Dorcas had prepared herself to do it, and she was getting curious — maybe morbidly so — what it’d be like for someone to know. “You sat down to insult my name?” Narcissa asked, not sounding particularly upset. Dorcas shrugged. “No. It suits you.” “I’m pretentious?” “Yes,” Dorcas told her. She was surprised to see Narcissa laugh at that. It didn’t last long. When it was quiet again, Narcissa waited expectantly for an explanation. A tray of chai biscuits sat on Narcissa’s bedside table and Dorcas took one without asking and without taking a bite, twirling it around in her hands nervously.

“I solved how you can break the wards around the cemetery without alerting its conjurer.” 

Sirius reached forward to turn the pages, their hands briefly brushing. 

“I have a team of curse breakers for this,” Kingsley said, his irritation at Sirius’s recent behaviour now undercut by the warmth creeping across his chest. 

“And you should sack the lot of them,” Sirius retorted as a smug, almost cocky, expression ghosted across his pallid, haunted features.

Ghosts

Written something for both Day 1 of #Weasley Week by @thethreebroomsticksfic and @harrypocter Colours of Autumn.

When The Burrow is empty, Molly feels all the catches and spasms of an overworked back. It's the age catching up to her, she thinks. It's the age that makes her feel the bone chill during Christmas, huddling under the protection of her own Weasley jumper. She clutches at her own jumper, the living tissue that connects her to her children. She imagines them wearing it, she imagines the slices of life they have built outside the Burrow, she imagines the conversations around their dinner table.

Fred is the only one she doesn't have to imagine. He is here, within her reach. I wish they were here, she tells him as she climbs up the stairs. She feels him behind her, helping her tired body up.

I thought George would come, he complains to her. Angelina's monopolising him.

She smiles.

She settles into her own bed and lies under her blankets, her spine curving into a mouth of longing. She feels him above her, watching her from the ceiling. The world goes on, she tells him. Even when it seems impossible.

Isn't that what Bill said? Fred asks.

That is what he said, Molly's eyes flutter close. Of course, her wisest son would have all the answers. She wishes she could grasp at her eldest son's unshakeable heart and swallow it back into herself. But if she did that...

She opens her eyes. Still here, Freddie?

Still here Mum. Go back to sleep. Dad will be late today, remember?

She Was Not Wise Yet - I had so much fun writing this older Lily Luna who doesn't have it all together. I always say I'm going to write more of her in this HC world I have and I promise it WILL happen one day!

A Bit of Fun - I LOVE this fic. I think this was the second Tedromeda fic I wrote after Not Tonight. I love the warm, cosy atmosphere. I love them not being able to resist each other. I love them denying their feelings. If you only ever read one Tedromeda fic that I have written, I want it to be this one.

Rubs and Disappointments - Written for @thethreebroomsticksficfest Rare Pair Spring Fling last year after I finally joined the server and was inspired and supported by so many wonderful people there. I love Katie and Oliver here, Oliver's despair at losing the match, Katie trying so hard to just act like Oliver's friend. It was so much fun to write.

Late Night's in the Office - This was inspired by conversations about Padma's career on @harrypocter, and I loved the idea of her and Harry becoming partners after Ron and Neville leave the Auror's.

To Hope Was To Expect - Kingsley Shacklebolt, my love. I wrote this for the @harrypocter Festival of Colours. I wanted to show how Kingsley became this self-assured Auror, who despite being pureblood is easily able to fit in and become part of the Muggle Prime Minister's protection detail. I also adore the OC of his sister and have some HCs for how I could continue the story.
