@ post hiatus fans: what we’ve went through the past couple of days is exactly how every day felt back when the band was active. like the constant clowning, hitting post limit, insistent anger, widespread confusion, shady bullshit, cryptic behavior, lack of sleep/fearful of sleep, completely exhausted 24-7, anxiety through the roof, our brain leaking, and never-ending love........ every single day for 5 years these couple of days were reality. and i do not know how we did it night after night. we were bionic.

9 years ago, I was a depressed 13 year old who couldn’t imagine her life past high school, who cut her wrists, hurt herself on the daily, dreamed of being brave enough to kill myself, and who had in 1D one of her only sources of happiness and hope. I spent countless hours listening to songs and writing about them on this blog, daydreaming on thousands of scenarios in which I would be able to meet them and thank them for making me see some good in life when I hated myself so much. Because of them, I somehow managed to hold on through the tough years.

Today, I’m 22 years old. I got past high school. I got over self-harming. I got over hating myself. I moved out of my parent’s house for UNI, and am graduating med school next year. I have an amazing boyfriend of 5 years who I’m going to marry, a beautiful baby dog, loving friends, and an apartment to call my home. And I’m finally, finally happy.

Today, on this special date, I can only thank One Direction for making it possible for me to hold on when I thought I couldn’t. I definitely couldn’t have done it without you, boys. And for that, I love you like family. There will always be a special place in my heart for the five boys on the stairs, wherever life takes me, or you. I’ll always remember and cherish you.
