I did some searching and learned that this feature (Back Tap) is a relatively new thing as it was introduced as part of iOS 14 almost 2 years ago (September 16 2020).

Can't believe it took 13 years after launch to kinda justify some of the 3rd party phone cases having a hole in the back.

P.S. The oldest model Back Tap can be used on is iPhone 8.

Having matching anything with a friend, crush, significant other, etc is such a soft kind of love. It's like enjoying being around that person (for various reasons) so much that you want something to remind you of them all the time, or it's a quiet way of declaring to the world "they're mine", it's not as grand as kissing in front of a giant crowd but it gets the point across to anybody nearby when you and your person are just standing there with matching shirts or bracelets, etc that you're together and want to be left alone to do so. I think it's so soft and kind and adorable and I just love the concept so much!
