This focuses on Aziraphale as a flawed character who can be quite selfish in his viewpoints (he want to do good for others, but doing good is his lens of what is good, but not actually what Is good for the other person)

I think it wouldv been a good idea for the finale to drive the importance of "understanding" each other rather than "forgiving" eachother (which Azi constantly falls back on even though that's not how you solve problems

I think I good conversation could have been made where Crowley talks about his feelings thoroughly

Discussing the idea that "it doesn't matter whether I forgive you or not. It's never mattered for me. What mattered is that I understand you. I knew that you would always choose heaven above me, you always have. And no matter what, I always waited for you, because even if you just needed me to help with heaven, you needed ME. And that's all I really ever needed. You always came back. And I was always there for you, even without you knowing how I truly felt"

Except at the end of season 2 , this is fundamentally different from all the other times, because Aziraphale did not just leave, he REJECTED Crowley. After that kiss, he pushed away and told him " I forgive you" , not even properly acknowledging Crowleys feelings, just moving forwards and past them. And this time, Azi didn't even come back for his bookshop. He just left

I think this would have been a really important conversation to have, in which it lets Crowley get all his feelings out, and then would hopefully end with Azi actually ACKNOWLEDGING them, and then talking about his experience of the cognitive dissonance of needed to follow God, protect humanity, and follow his truth (in this case loving Crowley) all at the same time. And how this is a hard/impossible task

FUTHERMORE, this would've been a great conversation to have AFTER the final Michael scene.

Where Aziraphale "forgives" Michael, but in the end forgiveness is just not enough. I think what essentially was a su*cide of Micahel was very much jokes over and just ignored. There's a whole other conversation that can be had about how the finale tackles with the topics of free will and the archangels commitment to God, but I won't talk about this here (yet).

If Michael ended themselves and everything else even after Aziraphale forgave them, I feel like that wouldv been a good "final breaking point/disallusionment" of his character. In which he then has to grapple the conundrums that he has been facing the entire show: that Gods will does not always mean "goodness and reason" ,and that "forgiveness" is not enough for everything in the past to be closed and moved in from.

Azi could have had a moment going "I don't understand why that didn't work, I don't understand why Michael could not forgive herself" and then Crowley has that whole monologue/rant talking about his experience, and driving home that sometimes forgiveness just is not enough, and all you can do is understand the other.

Also could have been nice if this point was hinted at earlier on with a conversation between Azi and Jesus. Like a potential idea could have been that even tho his scars are gone, Jesus still felt then pain of the crucifix . And then speaking to Azi about how in Jesus' life, his "forgiveness" of those that killed him was not the important part, even tho he forgave them he still died, and eventually those that killed him died too, the ending was still the same. What was important was everything that happens before then, the lives that were lives, the acknowledgement of the good, the bad and the in-between (this could also have linked in the the whole random storyline with the card guy too) .

Good omens s3 finale thoughts

Didn't mind the ending of "remove all supernaturals etc let humans be separate and free" , I agree with others points that it could've gone another way. But I neither liked nor disliked it

My main criticisms with the finale is just that nothing really mattered, plot just happens to each of the characters and I'd argue not much character development occured

Jesus - loved Jesus, loved all of his scenes. But he spent the entire time just hanging out playing cards with ONE GUY 🫤 I personally think it wouldv been really nice to see him interact with a number of people within that community instead of just one rando

Aziraphale and Crowley spent ages getting the car back, just to do basically nothing with the car

They solved who was doing the murders rlly fast + in a boring way

Another thing of it was just another copy and paste of "heaven + hell has lost something and we need to find it" , except this time nothing mattered . Jesus didn't rlly need to be found and they dropped that plot point rlly quickly, the book + murderer they found with plot conveniance . Like nothing rlly mattered to this plot. And this could've been a good message in free will, expect I'd say there wasn't rlly a good emotional payoff because the character weren't frustrated by this and didn't rlly even give a fuck that nothing rlly mattered, so it just was messy in a bad way

Michael as a "villain" felt underwritten and anticlimactic. Similar scenario to Wanda in the dr strange movie. Where it's just "character is all of a sudden evil, for a semi-valid cause but we aren't gonna spend much screentime on it"

Like I dunno, I feel like more could've been done with the archangels. They felt like stagnant characters . And they didn't drive home the "I'm doing everything for God, I always have been, I'm the only one who can do this for them and I must do this for them for otherwise what is my purpose" well in terms of Michael . Like, once again it just felt like the plot was happening TO them

(and I understand that they got only one episode to do all of this so some characters will be limited in what they can develop, but there still are better ways to put through their point)

Writing was just mid guys I'm sorry . Every single scene it was "character makes point" "other character responds" "og character explicitly explains all their feelings and motivations straight away" LIKE EVERY SINGLE SCENE BRO

And I feel like that's where a lot of my disappointment comes from because that mid writing just adds to the "plot happens to characters" thing I was talking about, because it feels like nothing was earned

There was little to no tension between Aziraphale and Crowley , they hashed everything out so fast and got to work with barely any squabbling

And the Crowley just forgives Aziraphale and Aziraphale basically didn't need to earn his trust back at all???? Like bro you broke this man's heart and you barely did anything to show sorrow

And I understand Aziraphales actions , I understand why he went to heaven. But there wasn't rlly a good scene I think where they had a conversation of Crowley going "I know why you went to heaven, I know it was for a good reason, but your actions still HURT me"

Like where is Aziraphales cognitive dissonance ?? Where is his struggle between following God, loving humans and loving Crowley ?? It was semi there but because every single line was so straight to the point, it just felt like there was no pay-off for what was happening

And honestly, I just didn't feel the love and chemistry between the two because of that. After the end of season 2, I want to see some angst get built on and reshapen until they find each other again . But because everything in the episode was so easily accomplished and at the same time had no impact on the outcome, there was just no payoff

And that's another thing, I understand that a large portion of the idea for the show is on free will, and how even if they try their hardest, the outcome is still the outcome (even tho s1 kinda goes against that but we shall ignore this), it would have been really nice to properly see the characters struggle with this (especially Aziraphale) because they were all honestly chill the entire time. Angels were getting murdered and they high-key just didn't give a gaff. And it's just kike URGHHHH GIMME SOME EMOTION, GIMME FRUSTRATION WITH HIW YOU ARE ALL POWERFUL HEINGS BUT STILL HAVE NO POWER

And honestly having Aziraphale properly grapple with that issue would have mirrored Michaels just as well, because they essentially both have similar motivations , but I don't think this was approached well

And also the forgiveness scene was actually stupid . Bro rlly went "Imma do what always fixes everything, forgive you" and then it meant nothing (which is good cuz forgiveness didn't help before anyways) BUT THEN THEY DIDNT EVEN SHOW AZIRAPHALE PROPERLY GRAPPLING WITH THE IDEA THAT FORGIVENESS DOESNT FIX ALL AND THAT STANCE ACTUALLY DAMAGED HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH CROWLEY

like that felt like the natural progression of things, but it just didn't happen

As just a final point to wrap stuff up. The ending had a lot of potential, I can understand the viewpoint and the messages they wanted to get across, but it was done in such a rushed, underdeveloped manner that meant that the finale just didn't really have a good pay off. And alot of the has to do with them trying to wrap up a seasons worth of plot into one episode, but it still could have been done in a much better way .

I'm the end, majority of the fans aren't here for the apocalypse. They are here for Aziraphale and Crowley . And by forcing in so many plot points that didn't even really matter/accomplish anything, it just meant that there was not enough time for A+C to properly overcome the angst of the last seasons ending, they never had a chance to rebuild their live from the heartbreak, instead any moment between them was sorted within a scene, which just felt anticlimactic.

And then they didn't even kiss ... Or hug ... Arguably they didn't share a true intimate scene with only each other

But yh, those are just my thoughts.

It was a mid ending, an ok one, but one that couldv definitely been a lot better.

I think the ending was fine. It was ok, solid 7 / 7.5 . Was it predictable? Yes . Did it feel like everything was solved too quickly? Yes. Apart from that, it was fine.

Now I haven't watched the GOT ending (YET, no spoilers) but I don't think it was worse than that, I think it was a fine, neutral ending.

I don't think it takes away from the rest of the show, it's ending was fine. I think that if you were emotionally invested in ships it's more disappointing, but I was never rlly serious about any of the ships so I'm looking past that rn. Could they have dealt with the relationships better ? Definitely.

But yh overall, it was ok
