brushing the hair away from her face and tucking a few blonde strands behind her ears, she sat up a little as she looked over at him. and just like that giggle had stunned him, that fucking smile of his had the same effect on her. if she were a cartoon character right now, everybody would be able to see the damn heart-eyes she had. âi, uhââ forgetting what they were even talking about for a moment, she covered it up with another giggle. âiâm terrifying, come on! grrrâŚâ nose scrunching up, she put on her best âintimidatingâ face for him, whichâŚadmittedly was not terrifying or intimidating at all. using the momentum from the trampoline, she did a little pounce forward to tackle and pin him down. what that was supposed to accomplish, she had no idea, but she figured it went along the lines of being scary. maybe.
she had him distracted, at the very least, with the little look that came his way. it was about as adorable as the giggle had been, though, so the idea of being all rough and tough with it? that was incredibly far out the window. it had only earned a smile, and a somewhat surprised sort of grunt coming out when he was tackled down back against the trampoline. his chin had tucked in on instinct, causing their heads to collide just a little. not something that hurt shane more than the initial surprise of the impact - but the laugh that had come out from her âmoveâ against him had faltered quickly. hands coming up to brush at the sides of blonde tresses, wearing an apologetic expression. âshit, you okay? Iâm sorry.âÂ
once again, he was feeling helpless. as if they hadnât had enough arguments over how this relationship was going to work over the past few months, this was just some more icing on the cake. heâd always try to be optimistic when anything threatening their happiness and their relationship came up, but this one? this one was a tough one, considering family was one of the most important things in life.
and so he sat in silence for several moments, chewing on his bottom lip as he pondered. he didnât have the right words to say, nor did he even know what would be appropriate in that moment, but he knew he couldnât just ignore it or change the subject. not now. not until shane didnât want to talk about it anymore.
âis thereâŚer, anything i can do? to help? talk to them, perhaps? or perhaps they just need some time to process?â
the questions brought on another sad expression, his eyes moving from the screen once more and his free hand coming up to rub at his face - fingers pushing into his eyes and rubbing almost aggressively. as if doing so was going to physically wipe the expression off of his face; as if he could just scratch the sadness off of his skin. but there had been so fucking much of it lately that it would have taken something industrial strength, even if that very thing had been possible.Â
âno, itâs fine...â it wasnât. it wasnât fine at all. he was leaving to move halfway across the world, soon, and his family were going to be left with a sour taste in their mouth about what that all meant for him. it was a part of that - something that sarah had said when heâd told her - that gave him a certain glimmer of hope that maybe this wasnât about what he was, it was about where he was going. but... everything felt too heavy now. too slimy. too gross. judgement was never something that shane had worn particularly well.Â
â...i just wanted them to know how much i love you. i wanted that to matter.âÂ
she was drowning his words out by now, mostly because she knew he would just continue to argue with her. and in her mind? sheâd already won whatever little banter they were participating in. eyes scanned over the menu as he went on about car crashes and his guns, and she had to laugh a little at his last little remark. âi didnât say it wasnât great. i just said i canât fuckinâ understand you half of the time. mate,â she taunted, doing her best shane impersonation.
shaneâs eyes drawing up to the woman sitting across from him, his jaw set and his expression completely deadpan. and honestly, it took pretty much everything in him to not bust out laughing at how horrible the impression was, but he kept it together. acting lessons, or something. maybe the performance centre was coming in handy for something finally (not really). â...that was the worst thing iâve ever heard. never, ever do that again.âÂ

Shane âToo Many Streamersâ Haste.
for once, he actually had a point. lips had even parted to inform him of such, but the second he began staring off into space? she could practically see the smoke coming out of his ears from overworking that poor, tiny brain of his. shaking her head, she glanced around, as if wondering whether or not anybody else was bearing witness to this. reaching out as he struggled, she gently patted him on the shoulder. ââŚyouâre lucky youâre a pretty man with such a nice and friendly smile,â she quoted him, snatching the menu out of his hand, âwant a tip? just randomly start flexing your muscles when you get stuck. itâd probably make a decent distraction. or just say a bunch of shit really fast. your accent can be used an excuse for people not understanding what the fuck youâre sayinâ.â
âokay, smartass, like you know everything about dinosaurs without having to think about it first.â if that wasnât the most ridiculous sentence shane had said with a straight face while trying to be some form of sarcastic or âsassyâ, then there was little hope for anything. ever. honestly. he did make his point, though. and while he was able to tap the menu up to smack zahra lightly in the face, shane was more than happy enough with all of that. âbesides, if i walk around flashing these guns all the time, iâll be causing car crashes and heartaches. you donât want me doing that. the world is at a much greater peace when i keep my guns at least kinda to myself. save it for the wrestling ring when they know itâs coming. also fuck you, my accent is great.âÂ

Dear sir, I hear from my âsourcesâ you are in America.  How is Florida treating you?  Do you like the PC?  Is the humidity terrible?  When will you be accepting visitors?
Are your âsourcesâ our social media accounts? hahaha. Florida is okay. Iâm too tired to know what anything is or how I feel about it all really like this jetlag is gonna take me twenty years. :( The humidity will always be worse in Perth, and Iâm always accepting visitors. Mikey refused to cuddle me last night, so.Â
Nearly two years ago, Fergal Devitt had been in Shaneâs (and Mikeyâs) shoes. Â Leaving behind everything he had ever known, a comfortable living, his family, a place where he was a star for what was basically a crapshoot. Â He felt confident in his abilities in-ring, although he knew going in that his promo skills were his weakest attribute. Â The WWE and America in general was a different horse than Japan and Europe. Â Your work did the speaking for you. Â Here it could make or break you. Â That had been his greatest worry. Â Coming all this way only to fall flat. Â He had been touted as this great talent, and what if he had just failed? Â Thankfully it hadnât been the case. Â He was ever evolving, but he was the face of NXT. Â They had put the brand on his back, and the results had been overwhelming positive. Â He almost didnât want to move on to the main roster.
He had also reached a level of respect with Triple H where the COO and NXT spearheader had asked for Fergâs opinions on talent, both in-house and potential signings, along with visions for the company. Â Fergal jumped at the opportunity to suggest names he had worked with over the years, people who were friends but also exceptional performers. Â When TMDK had their tryout, Devitt was immediately in Triple Hâs ear, insisting that he wouldnât be sorry if he offered the tag team a contract. Â Truthfully the boys hadnât needed his endorsement - their spot had been earned on their own merits. Â But Ferg was all too happy to sing the praises of Shane and Mikey all the same.
Ferg, in between sets, stood with his hands on his hips in mid-chat with Sara Amato. Â The booming sound of his name turned his head, half-expecting somebody to waylay him. Â But before he could insist he hadnât touched their lass, he saw the face the voice was attached to and immediately his wide smile lit up his face. Â He had his arms out for the return hug, a few steps forward to meet Shane. Â Even he hadnât expected to be spun around like they were in the middle of a romantic movie - although considering the source, he should have. Â His delighted laughter echoed in the room where everybody else had stopped to watch the greeting, looking at the two men like they had sprouted horns. Â âBless my soul, you boys made it.â Â He gave Shane a good squeeze and patted him on the back. Â âA sight for sore eyes, you are.â
In all honesty, Shane had never thought he would make it here. Sure, he knew that he was talented. He knew that he had an agreeable look - both to fans, and to management. He knew that he could be charming, and talk his way under wet cement. He was a bright person, and heâs always told that his future shone just as much. But being from Australia? Hopes always had been low. It had been a market very small on the interest chain, and by the time that the idea of bringing in more of people from the land down under? Heâd been almost positive that he was too old. Mikey, too. As much as they deserved it, and would have earned their spots, sometimes the chips just fell that way. And when the younger of the pair had gotten injured a few months before their scheduled tryout? Even the ever-positive in him had completely written it off. Both for himself, and his partner, thinking that he had cost one of the best men in the world his opportunity too.Â
When theyâd received an offer and some orders for Shane to get the fuck off that knee and get himself good? Heâd assumed there was some kind of God on their side. Apparently, after all, it had been a Demon.Â
âYeah, plane didnât crash so chill on the prayers.â He spoke the words with a laugh of his own, arms still squeezing practically the life out of Fergal, not wanting to put him down just yet. These little moments? They would help to suspend reality for him. Help give him more time to piece together in his head that he was actually here - give him that little length of time to not be as scared as he knew he would be following. But he did have to place the other man down, before the entire thing got a little weird. So he did. Placing the smaller man back down on the ground, a hand rose to muss up his hair as he gave off his own beaming smile. Vaguely, he knew that Mikey was somewhere a few steps behind him, waiting politely. âEh, wonât be much of a sight in a week, trust me. Youâll be sick as fuck of us.âÂ
he visibly relaxed when shane didnât argue with him. who knew if he really believed him â heâd already told lucas time and time again that he was a terrible liar, so he could only imagine something in his expression gave him away every time. maybe it didnât translate over video chat. who knew? he offered a small smile in encouragement, only faltering a bit when shane hinted about his family disapproving.
âoh. well at leastâŚkasey being chuffed about it is a positive,â he chimed in, offering the lamest reassuring smile he could muster up, âdid you tell them altogether, orâŚ?â he hadnât meant to press for details, and he wasnât even sure it was something shane wanted to talk about. getting the older to open up about anything, especially serious life things was like pulling teeth. hell, pulling teeth was probably a lot fucking easier than the task at hand. he glanced away now, blinking furiously as he stared at the hand in his lap. and when he spoke? it was quiet, barely audible no doubt. âthey donât approve of me, do they?â
lucas wasnât wrong. the smile that he attempted to offer shane? it was pretty fucking lame, and barely that reassuring at all. in fact, it made shane feel pretty shitty. guilty, even, like he should have been able to do something more, or something differently, to make his family see things in a more positive light. and heâd tried, during the conversation, to answer any questions that they had or try to reassure any concerns that might have cropped up. heâd told his mother, more times than he could count, that he was so fucking in love with the man he was sharing his life with now.Â
âno, i.. i told them separately.â kasey first. sarah second. his mother third, and his father last. heâd tried to go in order of what he thought would be the reactions. even that, apparently, he hadnât predicted very well. his eyes had shifted from the screen, but they came back in hearing the low, sad question. honestly, it broke his heart. âitâs not you they donât approve of, luke.âÂ
sheâd been bouncing around him in circles as if to taunt him now, even doing little spins every now and again as he watched her. maybe he had just wanted to stand there the entire time while she burned off some energy, which was fine. she couldnât imagine that being much fun, but it was fine. âcome oââ and then he struck. when he pounced and caught her, she had to let out a little squeal, which was replaced by a giggles moments later. even after the initial impact, they continued to bounce a little from the force as she lay there, long hair all in her face. ââŚoh, now itâs so on, mister! donât mess with a foley,â she teased, reaching out semi-blindly for him.
that fucking giggle. heâd heard it dozens and dozens of times over skype, over the phone, over any other instrument they could have used to speak to each other either verbally or with video. it was a pretty common sound, fluttering out of noelleâs lips - she was the kind of woman that seemed to find everything funny, or light, or god damn happy. it was one of the things that shane had always liked the most about her. but that fucking giggle? when in flood right into his ear, it felt like a smack to the face. stunning him still as he took eyes to her face with a wide smile of his own, âthe foley isnât looking very scary right now.âÂ
@exs-and-ohhsÂ
The WWE Performance Centre. The Holy Grail of training centres. The Pinnacle of entertainment. Mount Doom of Mordor. Death Star of all of wrestling. He was... here. He was actually here. He was here; in this building, between these walls, in his NXT official branded t-shirt, as a motherfucking WWE wrestler. To say that was a little bit hard to believe, even after the amount of time heâd had to process the idea, was an understatement. And to say that he wasnât completely shitting himself terrified? Well that would have just been a bold-faced lie.Â
Shane had always prided himself on being easy to get along with - the kind of guy that could manage to sit comfortably in the roost and work with anyone that you put in front of him. Both in the ring, and out, he could find his spot with anyone. He knew that. Mikey, on the entire trip over here from his new apartment, had been reminding him of that. Heâd believed it. But stepping through those doors for his first day actually âon the jobâ? Seeing all of these faces that he barely recognised, even if at all, he was back to being that remarkable level of terrified. Which, when his gaze did finally rest on someone that he recognized, inspired him to pounce like he was a man dying of hunger and Fergal Devitt was a Snickers bar.Â
âOi! Balor!â It might have looked strange to anyone that actually had no idea who he was; this big, stupid looking man with an accent squaring up his shoulders and dropping his bag from his frame in an effort to practically charge down their champion. Whether it would have helped or hindered that confusion to see him not only not take the swing that it probably looked like he was bound to, but to actually throw his arms around the smaller man, picking him up in a bearhug and swinging him like a ragdoll.Â
and of course, he was right. his remark earned him a nice whack to the chest, though she was positive that it barely had an effect on him. âyouâre really gonna make me kick your ass in public, arenât you?â a smirk tugged at the corner of her lips as she peered over his arm, taking a glance down at the menu as well. âyou can get salads with meat in them. you can also get a burger with a donut bun. i donât assume thatâs healthier than a salad would be,â she teased matter-of-factly, giving him a gentle nudge with her elbow.
it was like a fly landing against his chest. at least, thatâs what he would have said if anyone asked him about the whack to the chest. being a wrestler, you got pretty used to getting beat up on a regular basis. especially when you were someone as sometimes clueless as shane was - so no, that wasnât going to effect him at all. the thick skinned bastard. âyou can try to kick my ass in public. but either youâll fail, or youâll look like some deranged woman beating up the poor, pretty man with such a nice and friendly smile.â flashing that smile, like a smartass, he didnât even raise his eyes from the menu in his hands, pushing his foot out to the side to nudge her ankle in return for the elbow. âokay but both of those things sound way better than a salad. even if one is a salad. if itâs a salad with meat in it, itâs fine. thatâs not rabbit food. thatâs...â he struggled a moment, his eyebrows furrowing together and his gaze lifting into the middle of nowhere. obviously, he was trying to think back over his every experience with jurassic park. â...omnivores?âÂ
