"You shouldn't leave things like this lying around. Who knows what kind of person could've come along and picked this up?"
"I hope you’re fucking kidding. I’m not picking up shit for you."
She raises a brow in a manner that hints at confusion, but knowing Cora this act is probably one of sarcasm. "Huh, I wasn't aware we were on a joking level, Cai. But just think, maybe you'd actually be worth something if you could take orders." Standing up from her chair, Cora walked over to the heel and slid her foot in.
He stopped mid-greeting and closed his mouth. Bending down, he passed Cora her shoe. “You’re welcome.”
She takes the heel, slipping her foot in easily before standing to her feet. "You say that as if you've done me a favor and on top of that, I don't even remember saying thank you," she replies in a teasing tone, meeting his gaze with darkened orbs.
The heel floated through the air and landed in front of the girl. Camilla was busy, in the midst of going over files and nobody in the room seemed interested in helping. “You’re welcome,” she responds as she closes a book.
Reaching out just far enough, she grasped the shoe and tugged it on. However, she bothered with no words of thanks despite Camilla's own statement. Instead, she laughed momentarily. "Hearing voices, Camilla? How terribly unhealthy," she quips, referencing the fact that she had muttered not a single thank you.

Seated on a plush chair in the Coven foyer, she was at work pulling on a pair of sleek black Prada heels. In this process, Cora paid no mind to the figure hovering over her, let alone to the words that left their mouth. Instead, she reached for the second shoe, which she found to be discarded a few feet away. Finally tuning into whatever was being said to her, she swiftly interrupted. "Just make yourself useful and grab that heel for me," she commanded, gesturing to the strewn shoe with her eyes.
Oh you think you know me, do you? Enlighten me. [ Avery scoffs and rolls her eyes at the other girl ] Also, you really must be an idiot if you think I’m your inferior. You’re on Coven ground and I’m your superior here. Get out of my face. I’ll be wherever I want to be. It’s obvious that an old hag such as yourself doesn’t recognize or practice manners, so there’s no sense in me reciprocating.
"Avery Thane; ambitious, competitive, and obviously blissfully unaware and oblivious of your inferiority to me. Congratulations you're one in a dozens prodigies in this Coven, allow me to offer you a round of applause. Also, I don't give a shit what ground I walk on, because I have the actual capabilities that are required to bring to the table for threats. You're cute, really, but your bark only gets you so far before somebody calls your bluffs. By the way, I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself calling me old. You can't be much younger than me. We wouldn't want to get you caught in your ignorance.. if you haven't been already with the way you throw words around."
Believe it or not, child. Not everyone wants something from you. [She turned on her heels and headed back towards the kitchen.]
She called after the older witch, spite in her tone. "Are you kidding me? Everybody wants something from me, it's just a matter of when they need it and when they're going to ask." Cora sips her tea with that retort, settling back into her seat.
A lot of witches here have been born into this place and don’t know a lot about the world outside it. That’s not really their fault, they don’t know how bad the world can be to witches like us. [He shrugged.] But I’d take their ignorance to all of us dying any day.
"You'd think your Elders would be smart enough to teach you about it, what with the blatant massacre of witches going on. Or at least I would figure your--our sisters and brothers to take it upon their selves to be informed at the very least of the state of things in the outside world. You know?"
"You did." He offered her a smile before glancing down at a flower that appeared to be withering, he placed his fingers against it and watched quietly as it began to grow. Once that was done he stood to his feet, deciding to give her a proper welcome. "Welcome to the Coven’s garden. You can find any type of flower you’re looking for here and if you can’t — I can totally grow it within a few seconds."
She shrugged, as if it seemed only natural that she'd keep her word. Which served to be true--most of the time anyway. Her gaze fell to the flower he nourished, eyebrows flicking upwards in her state of minimal - but nonetheless existent - awe. "Uh huh, good to know I guess. I did see a few gardenias, so consider me satisfied enough with that discovery."
"Uh-huh," he says in a patronizing tone. "But the thing is, I do have my powers and they won’t disappear. So at the end of the day, hypothetical situations don’t matter, you still suck, and I don’t.”
She nods slowly, his words pushing a smirk upon her lips. "You're almost right about that. Almost. At the end of the day, I can still rip your vocal cords out before you can even purse those lips of yours that spew arrogance."
"You know, if you really think about it, you're worthless even with your powers. How sad," she pauses, her fingers trailing the spine of her journal. "Your little Elders don't teach much outside of defense with magic, so that pretty much means you're shit at hand-to-hand. Which, lest I inform you, plays a big role in whether or not you burn or the stake--or whatever they're doing nowadays."
[He walks up to a more comfortable talking distance.] Just wondering how you’re adjusting to everything.
"Well enough, I'd say. Though the amount of ignorance I've beheld here is surprising."
[He stepped toward her.] It is Cora, right? That’s your name?
She clutches a hand to her chest, right over where her heart should have been in a faux state of hurt. "I'm surprised you even have to ask, most people get it the first time," she pauses, dropping the hand down to her side again,"--But yeah, my name is Cora."
He was talking to the flowers. Which was a lot of fun because he could hear them talking about the things they had seen, quiet whispers of the lives that they lived when they were just seeds. Flowers were a lot more quiet than people and the garden had a tendency to be one of the quietest places around. Footsteps caught his attention and he turned from the plant just as Cora walked in. Vin called out to her, in haste, not really thinking or wanting to bother her. “Sorry. I was just going to say that it’s nice seeing you in the garden.”
She softened slightly, without enough energy to be hostile, and especially to somebody who was a sickening sweet that could rot teeth down to their core. Rubbing the leaf of an azalea bush between her fingers, her shoulders raise in a shrug. "You're.. fine, and I said I'd come. Didn't I?"
Never one for sitting still, Cora finds her feet guiding her aimlessly through the gardens. Left, left, right, left. Though striking red tulips only bring a dull ache to her head, the vibrance enough the require ibuprofen on her part. Upon hearing herself addressed, she spins on her heel with lips pressed into a thin line.. She can never escape these people.
"What?"
[Camilla stared at the girl, eyes rolling slowly as she placed down a cup of coffee beside the young witch.] I just thought you might enjoy something warm to keep you awake, if you plan on studying late.
Cora mirrored the move, cutting her eyes in a show of annoyance. She did not understand the constant urge of these idiotic witches to bestow kindness to those that consistently scorned them. But as a sort of icon within the coven, the huntress was under the impression something was required of her now. "Uh huh," she says slowly, grabbing the mug into her hands. Chamomile tea, a lucky guess at one in few teas she enjoyed.
"Is there something you want, Camilla?"
Cora prided herself in knowing members in the coven that might actually be worth something if she decided to burn it down.
[ Avery narrows her eyes and extends her foot out in front of Cora’s walkway as the other girl bumps her shoulder ] Actually, you look like someone who’s in over her head. I sure as hell don’t take orders, especially from a novice like you. So bit of friendly advice? Best for you to stay out of my way. You don’t know who you’re bitching to.
Easily dodging the attempt at a trip, an unimpressed look passing her face. How pathetic. "Lucky for you, it wasn't an order. Unlike the bullshit you're telling me, it was helpful advice. But good to see you're in the groove of taking commands. I relish in having my inferiors be submissive, it makes things easier. Also, as a bit of a refresher--I know exactly who I'm talking to. So as I've had to demonstrate for your weaker mind before, I'll repeat myself."
"Don't get in my way again."
