Hey everyone, let me introduce myself.
I'm a practicing Christian witch with a book, caffeine, plant, and feline addiction. I am happily married with four cats. I'm a paralegal five days of the week and trying to figure out my life the other two. I'm always trying to sprinkle magic into my day and find peace with myself. I'm also easily distracted by shiny rocks. Blessed be! ☽♱☾
Alright, let me explain something about my altar. I have three main candles that have been blessed and have sigils for their specific purposes.
My guardian candle for all spells or magical workings
My glamour magic candle for my makeup
My Sabbat candle for all sabbats
These are my pillars.
My familiars are cats, and I was lucky to find these two wonderful glass votive holders that are sleeping cats. I put these on my tray for my pillars and my cleansing materials as ‘mini’ guardians. A ward for my pillars as they are working their designated protection magic.
My votives finally burned out. So I removed the wax, washed and re-cleansed the little cats. I took two votives, added them, blessed everything and did some meditational magic. All beautiful workings for a quiet spring evening before a winter storm.
Then… there’s my dumbass. I took a third votive and added it to a wax melter. Thinking ‘oh this will work longer than a tea light.’ Well it did not! At all! Within an hour it melted itself entirely and got wax all over the melter that I will now have to clean. So logically it was the combination of the melter itself and the flame that caused it to burn to fast compared to the others… but my witchy brain is also saying ‘got it you like being the wards. Duly noted.. not for wax melting’. So that was my oh shit moment of the day! Stay tuned for more! ✨
No longer taking any chances cleansing my home on the 1st of the month. I’ll be walking around like a Victorian child with this holder banishing stagnant and bad energy ✨
Today I let my craft feel political. And I have never felt so powerful when doing a spell. Sometimes when all I feel is rage and don’t know how to get it out, a bit of chaos magic helps. Today, it really helped. So now let my tools be cleansed. My home smell of incense and sage. And let the enemies burn.
My normal way of cleansing items I used in my craft is smoke or fire. Mostly because of the love I have for that element in the past few years. Yesterday myself and my sister went to get some items to celebrate Yule and make witches bells. The bells we found were incredible. And now I feel called to use it in my practice for sound cleaning. It’s incredible to see small progressions and how the world works with you to integrate small things or different things into the craft ✨
I am a huge book nerd and reader. My mom is as well. But it shocked me when I had to explain to her that books are still being banned. Yesterday was the release of the Catching Fire Illustrated version and I went to get my pre-ordered copy. I said to her it was fitting that the book was released during banned books week as its a banned book. She was shocked, asking why. I told her the list of reasons: 'anti-familial values', 'opposition to govenement', 'violence', 'overt sexuality' and more. I explained the books were not pulled off shelves but it's a warning to stop people from reading them, especially children. Reminder... THIS IS WHAT THE BOOKS ARE ABOUT! Censorship and an oppressive government. When people ask what radicalized me I say it's this series. Katniss was and is my role model. The uprising is my swan song. I droned on about the banned book list and she acted like there was a gap. A gap where there was one before books like Fahrenheit 451 then to now with agent orange in charge. Unfortunately this is not new. Book bans have always happened. Books are forms of freedom of speech that cannot be quelled. Books are political. Books are powerful. And now she's looking more into it. Maybe it's the age gap between us and my constant access to the internet growing up to where I'm aware of this and she wasn't. Maybe it's because I've always wanted my 'rebellion', but I'll die before my books are pulled from my hands. And even then you can bury them with me. So long story short, go read a banned book during this week and ask yourself some questions about our government and maybe talk with someone about it. You never know whose eyes you might open.
The utter joy I'm experiencing at the fact by nightfall I will have my own altar space is unreal. I haven't been so excited about furniture in such a long time. Even better, I'm getting help from a fellow witch to complete the project. My heart is full and my craft is grateful.

Christian Witch Wheel of the Year

Below the cut is a surface-level look at these holidays. I'm going to start with Yule. It's my favorite season (I was born on Yule!), and it's where the Christian calendar typically begins. Different witchcraft/pagan traditions similarly have a lot of new beginnings at Yule as well. (Ex. the Horned God of Wicca is born at Yule)
I say surface level, but be prepared, it's long!
“Yes Jesus sat with sinners but he didn’t sin with them!”
This is always thrown around as a gotcha. Like, “Sure, Jesus ate with them. But he didn’t want to be like them.”
That’s missing the point 101. Jesus did indeed sit with the outcasts. The sex worker. The tax collector. He loved them. He ate with them, sat in their homes. He even proclaimed that they would be the first to enter heaven.
He never condemned them. He DID condemn the religious elite at the time.
“He called them to repent!” Yes. He did. In the most gentle of ways. His kindness was the call. His non-judgement was the call. Not the Bible beating. Not the picketing. Not the harassing.
Just, “Hey. Wanna get food?”
Kindness has the power to transform. He knew that.
He saved his anger for the religious people. Who claim to know God, but didn’t. Who judge and condemn. Who exploit.
Sex workers loved Him. Addicts today still love Him. The poor, the homeless, the traumatized…they all love Him. Because they see someone who loved them at their darkest.
That’s something that the religious person can never do.

My sister made me an incense burner with one of my favorite characters. And!! She found me a tea based on Persephone, as we come to the end of the season before she returns to Hades. My little witchy, nerdy heart is so happy!
Hot take in the witchy world. But I saw someone on Instagram who posted their hot takes on being a witch. One of which was along the lines of 'you can read as much as you want but without near daily practice you're not a witch'. I've been musing over this and I agree and disagree. First off, yes practice is important. Having your spells and rituals is extremely important. But somedays, there's no energy for a spell. So you read and research. That's not any less important. We have to expand our knowledge as witches. So sometimes that book or article or podcast is just as important. Not to mention, not all of us are out of the broom closet and able to practice openly. Which makes large elaborate spells harder to work with openly. So I agree and disagree. So be a witch. Read and learn. Make a grimoire and research. Practice when you can. Manifest. But because you feel daily spells is important doesn't make someone who can't do that any less a witch. Rant over.
