Dark Hour is a completely new haunt each season. They choose a different witch every year and base the scenery, makeup and scares around that theme. The vampire witch queen ruled supreme in 2019! We saw every conceivable type of vampire. From a Vlad the Impaler (looked EXACTLY like the famous painting) to Interview with the Vampire to Lost Boys (including Cory Feldman) to Dracula to Nosferatu they had it all. Except “glitter” twilight vamps, thank goodness! As always, Dark Hour’s props, makeup, acting and animatronics are professional and impressive. There was even a vampire who LITERALLY was walking 15 feet up, along a curved wall, parallel to the floor and then leapt into the air, flying across the room. We intellectually know there are wires... we didn’t see them! Thank you so much Amy Reed for being our amazing guide and for helping us with our Guinness Record! One of our favorite haunts in the country, visit them soon before the season is over! But you don’t have to wait till next year, they have X-mas, Valentines Day and even St. Patrick’s Day haunt special events. Screams Talk about 360 immersive experience! What an absolutely amazing haunt! This is a proper screampark with a little something for absolutely everyone! Wonderful humans and ghouls, 5 awesome haunted attractions, food and spirits and activities nestled in a transportive Halloween-themed atmosphere that would even delight your most skittish friends and family members! Please get out there and experience the dark magic that is this haunt! We had such a once-in-a-lifetime wonderful experience with such beautiful people and were met with such warmth! We wanted to take everyone home with us especially Danielle! Thank you so much to Danielle, Eric (our awesome, extremely knowledgeable guide who has worked tirelessly in the industry for years) , the amazing security/police folks, and the whole amazing cast and crew for providing such a wonderful scream park! Moxley Manor We love love love the expansion and re-design this year! We actually went into Annabelle’s first and were blown away with what the team accomplished and in such a short period of time (a few weeks)!!! Populated exclusively by women in the shorter attraction (Annabelle Noire’s Asylum), these ghouls absolutely killed it - their physicality, make-up/creature design, choreography and commitment! Please get out there and see this incredible haunt! They’re growing larger and somehow getting better each year we visit! Cannot wait to see what Richard, BIlly, and the whole awesome cast and crew have in store for us next year! A highlight for us this year included the artwork in the 3D section, the cleverly places animatronics (you’ll see what we mean), and the talented ghouls! You will not believe what Brothers and owners, Jason and Brian, have managed to design, build and orchestrate in just 7 seasons! The incredible realistic detail of each scene will blow your mind, lull you easily into this terrifying immersive universe and make it impossible to escape! The fabrication and paint jobs done in-house are absolutely top-notch and during a backstage tour, even the bolts and the rust appear REAL even in light and an inch from a critical eye! We don’t want to give too much away but keep your eyes out for the swinging bed. Sooooo cool! This haunt combines high tech, amazing acting, true artistry and still maintains that old school haunt feel. Jason, Brian and the entire cast and crew operate a highly organized, expertly choreographed haunt (professional theatrical production) and are clearly very passionate about the industry and strive for accuracy and professionalism on an advanced level that many haunts aspire to! We will absolutely be back! We had a wonderful time at these sister haunts - about a mile away from each other and you can take either a hay ride or a hearse ride to and from. We of course opted for both and loved both! The creativity, ingenuity, and painstakingingly handmade larger than life creations will blow you away! We especially loved the slides (thrilling and SAFE), the larger than life dinosaur animatronic (one of the biggest heads we have ever seen in 13 years and very awesomely unique), the girl on the pike scene, and the medical exam bed scene really got us. Some scenes especially in Dungeons of Doom were so inexplicably expansive that we felt immediately immersed and transported to several delicious universes! We will definitely be back! Huge thank you to Sterling, Melissa, and the whole cast and crew for putting on such wonderful shows, showing us so much hospitality, and helping us complete our Guinness forms!! I’ve been an actor, designer, creator, and director in a non-profit haunt and I’ve been traveling all over to haunts seriously since 2001. I’ve been to 100s and 100s of haunts in 38 states now (up to 85 separate haunts in 1 season). And THIS THIS THIS is THE MOST GENUINELY AFRAID I HAVE EVER BEEN IN A HAUNTED HOUSE. Visiting The Beast, Macabre Museum, and Edge of Hell cumulatively resulted in a well-managed 3 Hour Panic Attack 🤣🤣🤣 They are 3 separate haunts with 3 separate entrances/exits and ticketing processes (should you only want to enter one) and are all owned and operated by Amber Arnett-Bequeaith but their similarities must be discussed together (and because we do not want to give too much away). Collectively, we thought we could actually die in there. There were numerous physical challenges (not strenuous unless stairs are challenging for you - THERE ARE A LOT) - soooo many stairs (in Macabre, there’s a spiral staircase that goes up into the heavens 🤣👏🤣 and you’re racing against the fog machine that is ascending with you whilst increasingly limiting your visibility not to mention the creepy notion that the air is already thinner the higher you climb), traversing through teeny tiny cave-like crevices, crawling, ducking, climbing, getting routinely lost or confused, countless Floor disorientation techniques (slanted, uneven, up/down/up/down/up/down, ramps, squishy/mattress like) and did I mention that of the 3 hours, it felt like we were in pitch black darkness for what felt like an eternity but probably was only 20% of the time all told 🤣👏🤣 These haunts individually and collectively have everything you could want in a haunt experience: huge animatronics, intimate scares, excellent actors from creature design to timing to professionalism to understanding character development in scenes, difficult mazes, physical challenges, homage to the horror classics in both film and literature, two giant slides, and employing multiple disorientation tactics and weaving them throughout each haunt brilliantly and that carried on throughout each respective haunt long after. @the_attic_kc Had an amazing time at The Attic KC in Kansas City Missouri! We were among the first public victims of this incredible 1st year haunt. Unsettlingly nestled in floors of Union Station that have not been open to the public since the 1950s, true terror awaits you! The natural environment alone is absolutely terrifying -we don’t want to give too much away but “the writing on the wall” is real. It featured one of the most creepy animatronics that we have encountered this season - a skeletal fellow that slumps to his left in a very human manner. However, The actors here are the ones that steal the show! They’re incredible, professional, well trained, committed and among some of the most talented we have encountered this season. Our two favorite ghouls were the Samara (The Ring)-like ghoul (photo of a photo of her in the collage) and a ghoul @uglyfatclown - absolutely incredible! We will definitely be back! If this is year one, we cannot wait to see what deliciously evil tricks and treats you will have in store for us next year! See this haunt in their first year!!!
