“I used to admire people who could hang with anything. Now the women I admire the most are women who never pretend to be different than they are. Women like that express their anger. They admit when they’re down. They don’t beat themselves up over their bad moods. They allow themselves to be grumpy sometimes. They grant themselves the right to be grouchy, or to say nothing, or to decline your offer without a lengthy explanation. Sometimes it seems like the rest of us are on a never-ending self-improvement conveyor belt. We’re running faster and faster, struggling to be our best selves, but every day we fail and we hate ourselves for it.”
— Heather Havrilesky, How to Be a Person in the World

It's the last month of 2019 so I'm gonna say it: what the fuck was that
Frozen 2 Lockscreens / Like or Reblog!
Can we talk about the fact that Elsa’s various hairstyles through both movies correspond to the amount of freedom she is feeling in her life???
Frozen
Coronation day: Tight braided updo, not a single piece loose, no mobility. She’s scared for her life. Afraid of being queen, of showing herself to the world. Scared of hurting Ana.
Let it Go scene: Loose braid but still contained and tied off. More mobility but still limited. She has taken the first step towards her freedom but she is still terrified. She doesn’t know what she wants for sure, she’s still locked down by her fears and doubt but moving slightly for the first time.
Frozen II
Classic Braid for first half
Ocean scene: Takes hair out of braid to put into ponytail. Almost completely free and movable, restrained just the tiniest bit. She has decided to do what she thinks she has been called to do. She’s left everyone to set out on her own and make her own way. She’s still uncertain about her purpose causing just the tiniest bit of hesitation and restriction, but she’s actively moving forward in her life. She’s almost free.
Show Yourself scene: Completely down and loose hair. Not a single piece pulled back. 100% free and natural. And Elsa has discovered her purpose in life. She has finally shed her self doubt and fear to be the person she was meant to and wants to be. She’s finally free. Free from her forced roles and expectations, but most importantly, free from her own self doubt self imposed limitations.
CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THAT.
Frozen 2 is here finally!! So much fun to draw these characters again! Some of these poses are ended on posters.
