The story in question (currently under the working title "Knight of the Red Lion") could be summed up as "The French Revolutionary War with Mecha", and is inspired by stuff like Universal Century Gundam, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, the Powder Mage series and even @xiranjayzhao's Iron Widow.

It follows Roland and other members of the Garl Revolutionary Army as they seek to liberate the Republic of Garland from the tyrannical continent-spanning Asterian Empire in an ideological conflict between feudalism and emerging democracy.

Digital circus' biggest problem is that it was written to be a niche show aimed at weird analytical queers with actual media literacy and it accidentally blew tf up and hit the mainstream and a bunch of people who have never had a second thought about anything got into it
