diego hcs?
Oops I have a lot of them? Never thought about it before now? If this contradicts canon then canon’s wrong.
Diego the Duelmaster tends to have like, one protege/apprentice/adoptive kid every generation of wizards. He teaches them everything he can, because otherwise he’ll get bored when he’s not referee-ing duels or whatever.
From Valencia. Left on his own, likely to escape some noble family stuff. Evil twin brother followed him to Wizard City (he’s from that one quest) just for the Drama of it all.
Diego legitimately likes his twin, is just busy with his job so he asks you to deal with it because he knows his brother is more focused on the dramatics and not on like, how to actually fight.
Not a high level wizard, he can rely mainly on fencing and physical battle when it comes down to it, but he knows enough (around level maybe 60-65?) so he can magically duel as well. His heart will always be with fencing, though.
Slightly confused by the unicorn spell. He is. a unicorn. and he always has a new life wizard each year who asks him about the unicorn spell. he has no answers.
LOVES making fake battle/quest simulations for younger wizards- maybe not even school aged, just like, 5-10 yr olds from Wizard City.
If you get detention and are sent to Diego. You Will Do Push Ups. No you can’t write lines or clean chalkboards. If you physically cannot then just sit there and listen to him talk about strategy for like an hour and sneak off when he’s not paying attention.
Turns a blind eye to most student mischief unless it’s unauthorized dueling, because hey, Diego’s cool, he won’t snitch about duels, he gets it.
He doesn’t get it.
Friends with most teachers, though he finds Moolinda Wu, Halston Balestrom, Alhazred, and Arthur Wethersfield to be the best to talk to.
Does Not Like Cyrus Drake but tolerates him to his face, then he will attend the staff meetings without Cyrus there and join in on what is basically a roast/spilling the tea session.
Has a passing interest with Earth Stuff, but ignores it in the end because he’s too old for this.
Will try Earth slang just once, just to aggravate whatever wizards he’s around and see if they call him on it.
They never do unless they’re the protege/apprentice/whatever, in that case they’ll be like “For the love of Bartleby, never say the word groovy again or I will have to pull a Malistaire to bring you back from the dead.”
