His pledge to her:
i will kill the spiders. i will share my fries with you when youāve finished all yours and are still hungry. i wonāt ever pop my collar. i will never be rude to your tummy- when i hear it growl and gurgle. i promise to bend down and reply respectfully. i will eat the mushrooms when we order the supreme pizza. i will kiss the papercuts. and the door-slammed finger, and the counter-bumped hip. iāll try my hardest not to get annoyed when you whisper questions and comments during movies. i will be the big spoon. i will let you win at wrestling, sometimes. other times i will not. i will go faster. harder. i will pull when you want. and tease you when you donāt. i will send you random texts and leave you silly gifts. not always. not on schedule. just whenever i want to. whenever i think you need one. or seven. i will check your tire pressure. and remind you to take your car in. i will hold your hand. i will love you. Ā i will love you. i will love you.
āThatās what people do who love you. They put their arms around you and love you when youāre not so lovable.ā
ā Deb Caletti (via purplebuddhaquotes)
the cold air finally arrived and iām decorating my home again.

āShe told me once that she liked mornings. The small window of time at sunrise brought her a short reprieve of calm and clarity, before her anxiety really got rolling for the day. She said that she felt like herself in those moments at dawn, and for awhile, I think she was living for those moments.ā
ā Sarah Sterrett, āShe Liked Morningsā
āYou must learn her. You must know the reason why she is silent. You must trace her weakest spots. You must write to her. You must remind her that you are there. You must know how long it takes for her to give up. You must be there to hold her when she is about to. You must love her because many have tried and failed. And she wants to know that she is worthy to be loved, that she is worthy to be kept. And, this is how you keep her.ā
ā Junot Diaz, (this is how you lose her). (via h-o-r-n-g-r-y)
āI love being horribly straightforward. I love sending reckless text messages (because how reckless can a form of digitized communication be?) and telling people I love them and telling people they are absolutely magical humans and I cannot believe they really exist. I love saying, Kiss me harder, and Youāre a good person, and, You brighten my day. I live my life as straight-forward as possible. Because one day, I might get hit by a bus. Maybe itās weird. Maybe itās scary. Maybe it seems downright impossible to just beāto just let people know you want them, need them, feel like, in this very moment, you will die if you do not see them, hold them, touch them in some way whether its your feet on their thighs on the couch or your tongue in their mouth or your heart in their hands. But there is nothing more beautiful than being desperate. And there is nothing more risky than pretending not to care. We are young and we are human and we are beautiful and we are not as in control as we think we are. We never know who needs us back. We never know the magic that can arise between ourselves and other humans. We never know when the bus is coming.ā
ā Rachel C. Lewis.
I am so full of love I spill it wherever I go. Stain your clothes, even the sky. But Iām also very, deeply scared of contact and emotional exposure and these two sides of me tear me apart. Because if I were to love someone, Iād love them
so
fucking
much.
But I also want to run the moment someone shows me their heart. How do I fix this?
Sad people donāt look sad at all. They shouldāve warned us about this all along. Sometimes they laugh the loudest, they even crack the best jokes. They come and go, never telling their story. They touch their hand to your shoulder, they listen to your words. Itās heartbreaking how we must be both bright and dark at once.
I know itās hard, Alaska Gold.
I try so hard to be soft and kind, but Iām really bitter and cynical and way too rough inside. There should be a comfort, some kind of,Ā āyouāre doing your bestā for people that canāt be warm and good like that but still try to be so anyways.
Tell me something about you? You donāt have to of course, but have you ever seen the stars? What smell brings back soft memories? My eyes feel swollen and my throat feels rough tonight. I was just texting Sara and we were having a laugh. She likesĀ toĀ send her messages likeĀ this.
I told her to look out the window. The moon looks so pretty tonight, I hope somebody told her. Iāve been thinking a lot lately. Itās starting to be really sunny outside, I feel like thereās nowhere to hide anymore.Ā
I saw an incredibly beautiful flower in the wild and couldnāt help but transplant it to my own garden. I carefully dug it out and carried it home. I planted it and watered it every day, I did everything I could to keep it alive. But after a while, despite my every effort, the beautiful flower began to wilt and eventually died. I wondered where I went wrong because I did all that I could; I then realized that the soil it was planted in and the amount of sun that it was getting werenāt what it was meant to have to survive. It was in that moment that I realized that no matter how much effort you put into something, if itās not meant to be it will never work out the way that you want it to; the flower could have hung on to life but it never would have thrived.
