Wait.... where is this guy meredith is kissing coming from?!!?!? What did I miss?!?!?!? Like I've watched everything but I'm not understanding?!?!?! Thought she was going for the richard flood hot daddy irishman?!?!?!?
DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER THE SPOILER THAT MERHAYES WAS SUPPOSED TO GET A RAIN KISS IN THE ACTUAL FINALE OF SEASON 16 BUT COVID MADE PRODUCTION SHUT DOWN BEFORE THE ACTUAL FINALE COULD BE FILMED???? BC I FEEL LIKE IM GOING INSANE HERE
“Fuck” Cormac groaned, bringing his hand to his eyes in an attempt to block them from the light that was flooding in through the crack in the curtains. Meredith only chuckled in amusement from her spot beside him as she reached out to turn off the alarm, fully aware that it’s ear piercing beeping was something that Cormac detested “How is it morning already?”
“I told you we should’ve gone to sleep sooner” Meredith replied, waiting for him to respond teasingly like he usually would and frowning when he didn’t “Although, I must admit staying up all night was pretty fun”
“Only pretty fun?” Cormac asked, wondering if it would be appropriate to roll on top of Meredith and find a way to remind her that the previous night had in fact been far more than fun. He didn’t care if they were late for work, all he cared about was her.
“Why do I feel like you want me to stroke your ego?”
“I actually wouldn’t mind if you stroked something else instead...”
“You are ineffable” Meredith replied in a deadpan tone, her eyes widening as she realized what comeback lay on the tip of his tongue and glared at him as she issued her warning “Don’t you dare say what I think you’re about to say”
“I like that you think you read my mind” Cormac admitted, his cheeky grin dissolving into a softer fonder small as he spoke. He loved the idea that he and Meredith were as in tune with one another in the first light of the morning as they had been during the night as their bodies moved in an almost choreographed fashion “I like that you know me better than anyone else”
“I like how you know me better than anyone else too” Meredith replied, reveling in the fact Cormac was staring at her as though she’d hung the moon and stars. Sometimes he looked at her as though he could see her soul and other times he looked at her as though she was the most exquisite thing he’d ever seen and Meredith loved the fact that he did that, she truly did love the attention “You know I thought it was impossible for us to be like this again, for us to be together”
“I know, I thought the same” Cormac admitted, thinking about the months that they'd spent apart. Both of them knew it had been the right thing for him to prioritize Austin and Liam over a new relationship but just because it had been right didn’t mean it had been easy “This time though, I think we our timing is just right”
“Speaking of timing...” Meredith trailed off as Cormac threw an arm around her, as if attempting to pin her to the mattress, a move that only made her laugh. He’d never been a fan of the mornings and she knew it be tough to convince him to get up even though both of them had work in little over an hour “We really need to get moving”
“No”
“No?”
“I think we should stay in bed all day and celebrate our timing being right this time around” Cormac admitted. He’d spent months longing for Meredith to be beside him again, months longing for her touch and the smell of her perfume on his sheets, he wasn't ready to pause just yet “We could call Bailey and say we’re sick”
“You want to play hooky?”
“It wouldn’t be how’d I’d phrase it but yeah” Cormac replied firmly, indicating to Meredith that he wasn’t actually joking “C’mon think about how good it would be to just spend the day in bed, just you and me, with no interruptions, no responsibility, nothing but each other”
“As tempting as that sounds, what mystery illness would we even tell Bailey we came down with?” Meredith asked, surprising herself when she realized she was genuinely contemplating Cormac’s suggestion “It’s not like we can say lovesick...”
“I think someone as brilliant and determined as you will be able to come up with something...”
“We are an extension of our cells. Just like them, we are programmed to find others. To reach out for one another and find nourishment and love. Like our cells, we’re not meant to be alone. So once we find each other, try not to let go.”
After this week I’m wondering if they’re doing a complete 180 on merhayes 😭 or a less dramatic triangle(s) - I honestly don’t know which one is worse
P.s I absolutely ABHOR love triangles because they’re seldom done right
I think if we'd actually seen some merhayes in the first few episodes of this season - even a few flashbacks - then all of this would make more sense and we'd have a clearer idea of what the writers were attempting. Doing a love triangle (or possible love quadrangle with Megan involved) just seems so random after all the build up that they'd already done. Like are we really supposed to care about Nick over Hayes?
Well Megan is only supposed to be a recurring character && from Richard’s interview he said things would be complicated when it comes to merhayes but good things would be coming to his character. It’s just infuriating that they build them up for two seasons and we barely got to see them blossom and we’re introduced with this character that just is despised by almost everyone and brings nothing to the story other than it’s another guy Meredith is going to have a fling with 🧍🏻♀️
