there’s this emerging language that content creators talking about boundary discourse have been using recently and it really disturbs me in ways i don’t know how to phrase man. commandeering words like abusive/abuser or sexual predator or rapist or pedophile or fetishist to talk about people who just… ship minecraft characters is really really really unnerving. i’m not sure how to word my thoughts but like at the very least: holy fuck that’s so insensitive. using those words completely unattached from their meaning to win an argument or claim moral superiority is seriously sick

I never thought I'd say this but I've been getting back into genshin impact lately and it has been such a weird breath of fresh air from the mcyt fandom which is crazy because the genshin fandom is fucking evil. But the thing that's really been getting me that makes the genshin fandom feel so freeing is that being a fan is just... easier. So many ccs nowadays seem to just hate the fact they have fans that make fan content of them and treat their fans like shit which is just not a thing that happens in ANY OTHER FANDOM. It is so freeing to be able to make and engage with all the fan content I want without having to worry about hoyoverse seeing my fan content and posting on Twitter about how much they hate people like me. I think if the mcyt community really wants to be a fun and welcoming fandom community and if ccs want to keep getting free art (I'm not even mentioning fanfic because a lot of ccs do not like fanfic it seems ://) then they should stop treating their fans like shit.

Good gods what a finale.

I have to say, I absolutely love this series from the bottom of my heart. The message that at least I took away from it is that sometimes bad things happen to good people, and it sucks, but life goes on. The people on the street continue to read the news paper, the factory fires up in the morning. The world doesn't stop when your world crumbles.

To me it's about violence. The random acts of violence that happen to someone every day for no reason other than they were there. The decision to have the killer be revealed to be just some guy who thought it was deserved, the mansion accidentally going up in flames, the detective happening to pick Ivory as his target... It's all just random violence that could have happened to any of us. Hell, it might happen to some of us. But just because it may happen or did happen doesn't always mean that our life ends. We have to keep going after the fact. And to me that's what this ending represents. The tomorrow that we have to face after the fire. The next week, the next month, the next year. One foot in front of the other despite how heavy it feels.

And I want to say, I feel like this series gives a good perspective on what it's like to be part of a group of people who are subjected to more random violence on average. Perhaps no one would have been murdered had it been a man. Perhaps Ivory wouldn't have been targeted had she not been a woman. Perhaps the manor wouldn't have burnt down had Kantje just been paid a reasonable wage. I guess I can't help but look at the series from the lens of a woman and just go "yeah that sounds about right." I'm not surprised or angry about how it ended because in my life experience thats just how things go. I'm not sure if Ivory meant it to be a parallel to womanhood and societal oppression, but I see it's implications woven through the series.

I also enjoy that it's not really a good ending, nor is it a bad ending. It just, ends. This isn't a story. As someone in the comment section said, it's just life. In reality, we all knew that no one was making it out of that manor. The smoke got to them well before the flames did. Hell, the only reason Seraptor survived is that Ivory pulled him out. And it wasn't some sort of miraculous save either. He's permanently disabled because of it, the consequences of this day will live with him forever, just like it would in real life.

Seeing some of the reactions to the episode really makes me think that perhaps we were looking at Whitepine wrong. It wasn't a story. It never was.

It was just life.
