last night i had a dream where i saw a concert by someone who played an obscure new music genre called “astral rock” that was like slow rock music with extremely distorted guitars, but the only instruments were guitars. if a song needed drums, there would just be palm-muted guitars playing the drum rhythm. the concert made heavy usage of looping machines to layer tons of guitar parts over each other, often even having multiple takes of the same section playing at once to make it sound even weirder.
