25# Deadlift PR this morning!
Workout was for time:
800 m run
50 wall balls
30 power snatches
Finished in 10:40. Today is starting off ok!
Added a lot of extra carbs for my competition over the last two weeks. Didn't lose weight but lost an inch off of my waist and an inch off of my hips 🤷🏻♀️.
Carbs have done me well this week.
Last night (outside pics) vs this morning.
The kettlebell was super awkward and heavy for me. So instead of controlling it coming down I slammed it into me.
It sucks, it hurts. BUT I've kinda become addicted to learning how to do things with a kettlebell. I'm buying the book Enter the Kettlebell today so that I can learn how to build strength with it. And I really kinda liked the competition kettlebell that I used yesterday.
But these things are damn ugly. What's the best way to make a bruise feel better??
Yesterday I competed in the Festivus Games.
WOD 1 was an EMOM 5rep deadlift ladder. My 1RM is 165#. I got to 165 and lifted it 4x, but I just couldn't do the last one. My partner was able to move forward and she completed the entire ladder (which ended at 205#).
WOD 2 was a 10 minute AMRAP. Partner 1 rows while partner 2 does 4 devils press 6 box step overs and 8 front rack reverse lunges with 20 pound dumbbells. There were two scores - total calories rowed and total reps completed. We won the calories rowed but my partner struggled on this with the judge. She kept thinking she was getting "no rep'd" and it threw her off.
WOD 3 partner 1 did 21-15-9 hanging power snatches at 55# and wall balls. When partner 1 finished partner 2 did 45 hanging power snatches followed by 45 wall balls. I wanted to break this up differently than what I did but I also thought I got no rep'd, plus I was just tired.
WOD 4 was 100 hanging knees to chest followed by 2-4-6-8... of synchronized 35# kettlebell shoulder to overhead, swings, and goblet squats. My arms are seriously swollen from the kettlebells- the weight is heavy for me, I didn't have the control I wanted. And they used competition kettlebells which are a different shape than traditional kettlebells. You can see me struggle here.
Overall it was a good day. There were 5 teams competing and we got 4th. I was surprised at the end when they presented me with the Spirit of the Games award. I wasn't expecting anything like that. I was just me - cheering everyone on and coaching the members from my box.
A lot of these movements I was not doing 6 weeks ago. I am proud of the work I put in to get the wall balls at 14# and the shoulder to overhead with a 35# kettlebell. I would've liked a medal, but maybe next year.
If it's not life threatening, then it's just ego threatening.

😭 I failed at getting a new 1RM back squats today.
😭 There's cookie cake in the office. And frosted brownies. Both are my #1 & #2 favorite. And I know I can't have any because I can't stop if I do.
😭 My head hurts.
😭 Over all just feeling kinda down today. I need to not be at work.
I just have to say, I've seen so many people announce that they get to stay at home and parent their children instead of going to work.
And it rips me apart. I want that. I want to be a mom. I want to raise my bear cub.
😭 it's not fucking fair. 😭
Way too late in the day for this.
I've had this shoulder problem for about a week now. This probably wasn't the best workout to come back to but 🤷🏻♀️.
I did thrusters at 55#. They felt good. Power snatches were at 55# too.
While I was gone the child busted his chin. It's still bleeding but I think we might be ok to not get stitches. Now if only he'd let me clean it.
I'm not feeling it.
How the hell do you people work out so late in the day? It's 9am and I've already almost talked myself out of working out several times.
I hate this one class only on holidays. It is not for me.
I'm in need of some new people to follow.
Who are your favorite accounts to follow? I miss all the people I followed years ago but idk if any of them are on here any more..
I managed to take my child to the zoo today, by myself. I always get nervous to go by myself with just him; human trafficking is a real problem here.
But we both did good. We got an ice cream, saw all the animals, nursed a little in the nursing station, then headed home. He loved the bears and hippos.
And now he should be napping but he woke up when we got home and that was that 🤷🏻♀️. Hopefully they'll let my husband out of work soon then I can do something I want to do. Like shower.
This was the first time we've gone where he was interested in the animals. It was fun to see him roar at the tigers and bears and follow the manta ray around the tank.
My great aunt sent this picture to my mom today. It's a picture of my Grandma.
I've been thinking about her a lot lately. I miss her. This weather reminds me of going over to her house, having dinner and root beer floats, spending time outdoors during dusk. Bowls of popcorn and Dr Quinn the Medicine Woman.
I miss both of my grandparents a lot. This weather always reminds me of the summer weekends spent with them.

My shoulders are straight up fried after this workout. Legit feels like it could be bad news bears. I'm hoping it's just irritated tonight and tomorrow it'll be good to go.
I tried going 35# but it was not happening today. I did 30# on the snatches, 35# for the step ups and 10 C&Js, then dropped it to 30# for the remainder. Even though there was a 16 minute cap the clock was left running. Finished in 17:15.
I think it was the thrusters that really did me in.
