made it up to visit my partner’s family at their gorgeous twenty-acre property on lake laberge, about thirty minutes outside of whitehorse. we spent the week chatting, eating good foods, meeting cousins, and marveling at a night time that only lasts four hours.

*when we entered the territory, there were reportedly 85 active wildfires burning as a result of 3,000 lightening strikes over the weekend. when we got radio access again a couple days later, the number had increased to 161. we continued on our journey, but altered our plans some. the travel advisory and threat of evacuation orders prompted us to get out a little earlier than planned.
