From yozakura quartet chapter 71
like heartbeat
A Heartfelt Gesture
Fandom: Supernatural Rating: PG-13 Pairing: established Sam x Reader Warnings: none
Summary: The reader is a cardiophile, someone who enjoys the sound and/or feel of the human heart. She wants to bring that interest into her relationship with Sam, who is curious and willing to try what she is offering.
————
“Are you ready, babe?” you asked, looking up into the earth-toned eyes of the man standing in your door frame.
“Yeah,” he breathed. His right hand combed through his loose brown hair. “Let’s do this.”
“Okay, have a seat,” you instructed, patting the edge of the bed. He crossed the room in just a few steps with his long legs and sat down. “Lose the shirt, Sam.”
He smiled warmly and his hands moved to the top button of his plaid shirt. Long fingers made quick work of the buttons, and he shed the garment with a shake of his shoulders. “Better?”
“Much,” you confirmed. “Now, how about your t-shirt, too?”
“Whatever you say, Y/N,” he agreed. In a flash, he was sliding his shirt up his back and over his head and tossing it on the floor.
You stood in front of him, resting your hands on his shoulders. “God, you’re so beautiful,” you gushed. “Alright, sit still for me so I can get these on.”
Sam obeyed, sitting up a little straighter. You placed the first sticker on the right side of his upper chest, mirrored by the second sticker on the left side. You stuck the last one lower down on his left side, where his ribs made ridges like sand dunes beneath his tanned skin.
You attached three thin wires to the electrodes, plugging the other end into a medium-sized device with a blank screen. “Shall I turn you on?”
“You already have,” he retorted.
You rolled your eyes. “Very funny, Sammy. You sure you’re good with this? I know it’s weird-”
“Relax, Y/N,” he interrupted, “it’s not weird. It’s fine. This is what you’re into, and I love you, so… we’ll try it.”
“I love you so much,” you sighed, flipping the switch. The screen lit up, and after a few seconds the monitor began to beep at a regular pace.
Sam studied your face with a fond curiosity as you listened to the sound coinciding with his heartbeat. “It works,” he noted softly.
“Let me just double-check,” you replied, reaching for your stethoscope. You put it on and picked up the diaphragm. “Can I just…?” You hesitated as a blush flared onto your cheeks.
“Hey,” he soothed, “of course you can. Don’t be shy.”
You nodded and pressed the stethoscope to his chest. Your eyes fluttered shut as you listened to the steady beat. “Wow,” you whispered.
“Does it sound okay?” Sam inquired.
You opened your eyes again, moving the stethoscope to another spot on his chest. “It sounds great,” you replied. “I just wanted to make sure the monitor was accurate, but you sound amazing.” You looked down to where the diaphragm met his skin. “Do you maybe want to hear for yourself?”
“Sure,” he answered, assuaging your insecurity with his earnestness. “Show me.”
You took the stethoscope from your own ears and placed it in Sam’s hand. He fit it into his ears and lifted the diaphragm, letting your hand guide his to the ideal site on his chest.
“Can you hear it?” you checked.
“Yeah,” he confirmed. “That’s pretty cool, Y/N.” His smile filled you with warmth. “I love the way you’re looking at me right now, watching me listen to my own heartbeat.”
You shrugged, blushing again. “Sorry, I know I’m weird-”
“Babe, no, you’re not weird,” he promised. He picked up the diaphragm and rested it on your chest instead, listening for a handful of quickened beats. “Don’t be so nervous, Y/N.”
Hurriedly, you snatched the stethoscope and set it down. “Come on, this was supposed to be about you,” you persuaded.
Sam’s heartbeat continued to beep steadily in the background as the EKG traced a path across the monitor screen. “Alright,” he assented, “what would you like to do with me?”
All sorts of ideas raced through your mind: some relaxing, some exciting, and some downright filthy. “You love when I massage you, right?”
“Of course I do,” Sam replied. “You’ve got amazing hands.”
“Do you want me to massage you and see how slowly your heart beats when you’re completely relaxed?” you suggested.
“That sounds really nice,” he agreed. “I’d like that. Will that do it for you, too?”
You nodded eagerly. “Mmhmm. One step at a time, right?”
Sam grinned. “Right.”
“Okay,” you began, “if you lie down on your stomach on the bed, is that comfortable? Let me know if the electrodes poke you or anything, alright?”
“I’m fine, Y/N, really,” he assured you. “Go on, work your magic.”
You climbed onto the bed and straddled his lower back, placing your palms on either side of his spine for support. You glanced at the monitor; it reported a pulse of 64 beats per minute. You leaned forward, lips grazing his earlobe. “If you’re a good boy for me, maybe you’ll get a happy ending.”
The monitor picked up tempo to a brisk 72.
You chuckled and sat back up. “Easy there, big boy. I wanna see how slow you can go! Can you take a deep breath?”
Sam inhaled and you fit your palms along the curves of his bottom ribs, feeling the expansion as his lungs filled with air. Moments later, you felt as he exhaled completely, deflating like a leaky air mattress.
“Good!” you praised, listening as the heart monitor slowed its pace. “Another one?” Sam obliged, breathing in and out again slowly. “And one more?” You coached him through another breath, which decelerated his pulse back into the low sixties. “Good job, Sam. Your body is amazing; it’s so responsive!”
A chuckle rumbled through his torso below you. “I’ve heard that before, but not in this context.”
“Maybe next time, we could get a pulse oxygen meter?” you suggested timidly. “Would you wear that?”
“Sure, babe. That would be fine,” he agreed.
“Cool!” You began massaging Sam, and he fell silent apart from the gentle hiss of his breaths against the bedding. The beeping of the heart monitor seemed to fade into the background as he grew more and more loose and relaxed under your touch. Each knot you worked out of his back muscles seemed to earn you a drop in BPM on the display.
When you finally finished his back rub, you couldn’t tell if Sam was even awake any longer. “Hey,” you whispered in his ear, “do you want me to do your front, too?”
His eyes fluttered open, and a smile spread over his face. “Yeah, alright.”
You climbed off his back so he could roll over, slowly and languidly. The machine beeped shrilly when one of the wires disconnected, startling him a little bit. You swiftly reconnected it and laid your hand on his chest over his heart. “Shhh,” you breathed. “It’s alright, just relax for me.” His chest rose and fell under your palm, where you could feel the rhythmic knocking coming from inside his body. His eyes fell shut again.
Your hands worked over his shoulders and pectorals, massaging each one into total submission. As you did so, it dawned on you just how thoroughly Sam trusted you. He was hardly even conscious anymore, and yet still allowing you to do whatever you wanted with his body. Warmth flooded through you with the realization, as well as a sudden desire to be even closer to him. He loved you, and you loved him.
You laid down gently on his chest, careful not to jostle him with the extra weight, and peeked at the heart monitor one last time. It beeped a steady 55 as you drifted off, your heart beating directly on top of his. Mission accomplished.
Omg this was so well written!! I love it so much!!! Cardiophile!Sam x Cardiophile!Reader makes me smile always!!!
Oh gosh! This is amazing! So wonderfully written ❤️️❤️️❤️️
One of my all-time favourites. ❤
A little doppler action tonight over Pulmonic valve.
Palpation ❤
I decided to post a video here because I love hearts, heart beats. Enjoy.
Oh my god.
The guy I was with tonight (this is my second time hooking up with him) was insane. He kept doing this thing he did last time where he’d put his fingers up to his neck & check his pulse to, as he puts it, “see if he was alive.” And then and then and then he was fingering me (which felt like heaven) while he was spooning me, and he’d speed it up whenever he heard my breathing getting faster. My head was several inches away from his chest, but I could still hear his heart pounding… It was so fucking loud. I was amazed. And so I told him how I could hear how hard his heart was beating for me and he said “Don’t be surprised. You know how my body works.”
Omg is right. 😍

Comic canon: Clark can hear and identify Bruce’s heartbeat from anywhere on Earth
What if DCEU movieverse Clark heard Bruce’s heartbeat before they’ve even met?
—
Clark is staring down blankly at a wrist, trapped in his hand somehow, his thumb right on that large vein. The heartbeat starts to run, and he rubs his thumb gently along it, which is when it starts to sing.
“Well who might you be?“
Clark lets go at the saccharine tone. Darts his gaze up, flushing. Bruce Wayne’s gaze meets his, eyes dissecting and dark in contrast to the playboy leer. He wonders how many people fall for the smile that didn’t reach his eyes and fall for the voice that hides that darkness. (sings like a knife’s edge, a warsong)

Main arc (Ch 1 and 2, PG13) is finished and posted.
Catharsis (Ch 3 and onwards, NC17) is 10 of 13.
