Every now and then, I like watching people's reactions to Rebels, and recently I stumbled upon a Group's reaction to the show. Everything was pretty ordinary until they got to "The Holocrons of Fate." Out of nowhere, one of them started saying that Ezra got Kanan blinded. I thought it was a joke at first, but then they brought it up again—and several people in the group agreed. That's when it hit me: it wasn't a joke, they LEGITIMATELY think Ezra caused Kanan's blindness. 

I didn't think that in the great year of 2026 I'd actually have to explain this, but first of all: NO. What Maul did is in no way Ezra’s fault. Because: 

Ezra had absolutely no way of knowing who Maul was or how dangerous he could be. "But- but- but he looks like a demon straight out of hell!" Bruh, Vizago looks like a demon too, but that doesn't mean Ezra is gonna be scared or wary of him. 

Maul INTENTIONALLY—and I repeat, PURPOSELY—played the role of a "weak, fragile old man" to not seem like a threat to Ezra. He deliberately MANIPULATED Ezra’s empathy, pushed his buttons, and formed a bond just to exploit it later for his own goals. Maul knew exactly what he was doing and did it on purpose. And the whole "He's a villain, what else do you expect?" excuse doesn't work because a) it doesn't clear him of responsibility, and b) characters don't have the meta-knowledge of 6 movies and 7 seasons of TCW. 

Kanan and Ahsoka—ESPECIALLY Ahsoka—could have said something. Ahsoka, for one, knows exactly what Maul is capable of, but for reasons known only to Dave Filoni, she stays quiet. I'm not sure if Kanan even knows who Maul is, but still, they are both adults capable of rational thinking. So IF (If!!) we start blaming Ezra for what Maul did, then their blame is either bigger or at least equal. 

AND YET, NONE OF THIS EVEN MATTERS. Because Ezra and Kanan ARE NOT TO BLAME for being DECEIVED! Just like the Jedi are not to blame for being DECEIVED by Sidious. 

This got me thinking: why are people so quick to blame Ezra? I know he annoys a lot of people, but it just makes no sense.

Some people think Pong Krell secretly being a separatist is stupid. I kind of agree. It's fine, the Umbara arc is still great, but the alternative is something that really really appeals to me personally.

I like sadism as an aspect of villainy. Sometimes people hurt others not for any material gain, but to maintain a sense of power over their victim. They hurt because they can, because they can get away with it.

Imagine that's Krell. Imagine a version of him where the whole stunt with the 212th isn't sabotage, but his idea of a punishment. A way to re-assert his authority after the 501st refused to execute Jesse and Fives. He can send clones to their deaths and they WILL follow his orders, even if he has to deceive them.

He is the one with power here. He is in control. If he says march, you march. If he says charge, you charge. If he says stay put, you stay put. And if he orders you to kill your fellow clones, you kill.

Yall I just had my first day of EMT class yesterday and have the second one today.

I’m already feeling pretty overwhelmed and honestly scared.

I know Hunter is probably the least liked of the cast but I think his arc was accepting the changes of his life.

I always headcanon Hunter got taken from his biological parents because they were really bad people. Hunter stayed in a care-home for a couple years and some people have taken him into their home. However Hunter had a lot of anger issues because of the abandonment and many families often sent him back. He got into fights with other kids at the home and just struggled with his feelings of being unloved. He’s like really young as well (Five years old)

Wasn’t until a four year old Blake chose him to be brother. His adopted parents were looking for a younger kid to adopt and decided to take Hunter into the family upon seeing how much Blake loved him and hearing his story. It was the first time Hunter had something stable and loving and he loved his family.

However when his parents get killed, it just make those anger and emotional issues worse. Hunter felt abandoned again despite knowing his parents didn’t mean to leave Blake and him behind. Blake ends up being the only person he has left of his “old” life when their Sensei takes them in. (And their Sensei is not loving like their parents. ) Blake often found Hunter in so much anger and often punching something down. He wasn’t violent to other students but he isolated himself, only allowing Blake in.

Then the whole Thunder Academy raid occurred. His sensei is also taken away. Even if sensei left Hunter in a lot of anger, he couldn’t help but be upset another thing he was used to was getting taken away again. Lother’s whole plan screwed with him more, especially when his parents came to talk to him.

It also didn’t help that Blake was a lot more social than him. He was able to befriend the Wind Academy so much easier than he could. While he likes the other rangers, he misses how life was when it was just the two of them. It felt like any time Hunter wanted to be with his brother, Blake would always invite one of the wind ranger’s to the outing and Hunter has to hide his annoyance. He feels like his relationship with Blake is also drifting apart and starts confiding in him less. Him hiding the gem was that last desperation to get his old life back. The comfort and stability that he knows

Wasn’t until the “A Gem in the Day” where Hunter starts accepting this change. Blake realizes how much Hunter is hurting and they finally talk about their feelings from the past years. Their parents death, ranger duties and what they both want after they defeat Lother. It’s when Blake opens about his own grief and while he may act normal, there’s a lot of pain he also hides.

It’s when Hunter finally puts down his wall, and accept that this is new life. He has friends and Blake will always be his brother despite their different paths. He’ll miss his parents but he’s going to start living his life

I was trying to figure out if anyone’s studied why people like angsty stories and hurt/comfort type of fiction so much (it’s me, I’m people).

It seems to come down to

We feel the same intensity of sadness when talking about a tragic story from our own life as when watching a tragic piece of media, but we feel way more anxiety along with it when relating our own story. It also occurred to me that this hits a lot of Judith Herman’s stages in her trauma recovery model!

1a. Healing relationship: Visceral identification leads to a sense of relationship with characters and vicarious experience of their relationships.

1b. Safety and stabilization: The alibi of fiction creates some safety, as does a more controlled environment in which to expose yourself to the contents of fiction (content warnings and expectation management of tags etc helps with this too).

2. Remembrance and mourning: Stories with trauma/angst exploration, whether or not there’s comfort/recovery involved, can be an aspect of rememberance and mourning especially if they resonate / reflect one’s own traumas (which are often relational), allowing mourning-by-proxy which again creates some safe distance to make it more bearable/less intense, especially since it doesnt have the anxiety level of engaging directly with your own trauma story so it’s less likely to lead to dissociation (impossible to process while dissociated).

3a. Reconnection with community: Maybe the least applicable, though I’d argue that fandom holds some of this.

3b. Connection with like others: The similarity of characters, and connecting with others in fandom who also relate to those characters and their experiences, is absolutely connection with like others.

Whumpers who casually manhandle the whumpees, as if doing so is completely natural. They don't even think twice about it. Whumpee is trying to crawl away? Oh, just grab them by the ankle and pull them back. Whumpee's head is pointed in a suspicious direction, as if looking for an escape? Pull them by the hair so their eyes are forced away. Trying to yell for help? Put them in a chokehold, without so much as a change in expression.

I like that Ezra is particularly good with animals. I never considered that different force users would have strengths with different aspects of the force, but it makes sense. And honestly if I think about it, I should’ve picked it up from different characters.

Ahsoka is very acrobatic, which I always assumed was just part of her species, but so many of her stunts were obviously assisted by the force.

Anakin seemed to be very good at instinctual snap decisions.

Yoda could connect with the force on a very deep, truly spiritual level.

Luke was better at, for lack of a better term, letting the force guide him. Reading the cues it gave him, following whether it made logical sense or not.

Leia was basically an empath. Excellent at reading people, and knowing when to meet, exceed, or defy people’s expectations.

I wish I remembered Mace Windu’s moments more, but I feel like he was a particularly good duelist/saber wielder?

It’s also hard for me to pin down Obi-Wan since there’s so much of him in the saga. Same for Kanan’s thing, but because I’ve seen less of him, and to be fair his training was cut short by 66.

Star Wars is not very consistent on what the force is or how it works, but if it moves through every living thing, it does make sense that living things would find wildly diverse ways to harness it.

you can't have your hitter as your mastermind in a heist/con situation. the mastermind's job is to have a plan, and the hitter's job is to make sure everyone gets out alive. these are separate and exclusive roles. the hitter cannot have any emotional stake in the plan. their job is to make sure everyone gets out alive even if it means saying 'fuck it' to the plan and ruining everything. a hitter cannot be thinking about the plan basically ever at all because they need to be counting exits and obstacles between those exits and where every member of the team is at all times. they cannot be distracted by the plan because they need to be fully focused on how to get everyone out if it all goes wrong.

this is why eliot spencer never even considers wanting the role of mastermind after nate, and lets parker and hardison throw their hats in that ring as many times as they want without competing for it. it's why he never runs a job. his job is to get them out alive.
