“i think i’d rather be bored than do something difficult. besides, if i’m greeting people at a restaurant i could run into a group of assholes. what if people start yelling at me? i’m pretty sure anything you get payed to do is a job job.”

    “i feel like you could run into someone who yells at you anywhere. what if they thought you weren’t standing there right? people are so grumpy all the time. i mean i suppose that’s true... but wouldn’t you worry about people resenting you?”

             ❝ I’M ALLOWING MYSELF THE DIGNITY of thinking it was something at least slightly more interesting than getting caught stealing,” he said, his smile coy. “I reckon I was much better at pick-pocketing, at least back then. can’t say for sure now, but it’s never too late to try. for now, i’m still trying to decide on the best story to tell.”

    “the officer pick-pocket? now that would be interesting and exciting. you should try it to see if you have a knack for pick-pocketing. i could cover for you, should you get caught.” her eyes widened a little at the idea of the whole thing. something exciting going on in this town. not that it wasn’t exciting already. but she’d really feel like they were getting somewhere. “i think you should say... an animal of some sort ate it. terrifying, but interesting.”

Bash was sat at the police station working on a recent report when a knock at his door sounded. Rising from his desk, he made his way over to the door, pulling it open. He cocked his head at the other. “Is everything alright?”

    fred knocks on bash’s door and waits for him to answer it. thankful to see him there, he smiles. “yeah, i just realized today that i am in capable of eating alone so i wanted to see if you wanted to get lunch.”

misty had found a little CUCCOON hanging from a branch in HIGH GARDEN and she took the transforming insect under her wing. she’d been reflecting on her life (er…trying to reflect on her life ) in comparison to the cocoon. she FELT like the caterpillar. when the caterpillar submerged from the cocoon as a new form, the butterfly’d probably not remember anything. 

she WAS the BUTTERFLY!! MISTY’S realization pushed her to try to grasp anything she could — - what did she remember??  “—dust. darkness. dissection.” she muttered. that’s the only things she could see when she closed her eyes to sleep. flames, ‘fixiation, frogs. HER ATTENTION flipped when she realized she wasn’t alone –

 “ oh, my!! — i’m awful sorry, i– i hope you weren’t waiting long…!! hey, d’ya wanna say hi ta’ my friend??“ the cajun witch smiled softly, pointing to the transformation sack the caterpillar was working hard in. 

   filling her living space up with plants sounds like a good idea to elizabeth. she just wasn’t sure what ones to pick. succulents were definitely the most sturdy, but she loved the idea of keeping hundreds of orchids around. might brighten up the space, give her something else to think about other than the nightmares from an unremembered source that would wake her up.

   she’d go with an orchid plant to start. several more to follow. she found one that was yellow with purple accents and feels satisfied with her choice. she approaches one of the people working, to figure out where to pay and smiles. the woman seemed to get lost in her thoughts for a moment or two. something she recognizes happening too frequent to her.

    “no! not long!” she reassures before she looks over at the cuccoon. “i’d love to. do they have a name, yet?”

                         “I HAVE YET TO KILL ANYONE,” dana sighs,               crossing her arms and leaning back after stating the painfully                    bare minimum of doctoral expectations. “and i have an              extensive knowledge of the medical field, beyond anything any          non-medical civilian would or should have. it seems pretty inevitable                              that i am a doctor. process of elimination.”

   “that’s fair... i suppose.” tilly scrunched her lips up a little before she shook her head. “but how can you know for sure? how can any of us know anything for sure?” the right side of her lips pushed her cheek up in a sort of questioning expression. “sure enough to put someone’s life or, in some cases, coffee in our hands.”

                 “YOU’VE GOT ME.” luke couldn’t help but laugh, caught in his own                               cockiness of ‘i know this whole library’. the attitude reminded                               him of something - or someone - but he quickly pushed the thought away.

                 “i can honestly say that’s a                                book i’ve never heard of, and i’ve become pretty familiar                               with this library. it sounds delightful.”

    “to be fair it is a children’s story.” jane gave him a smile, but still grinned a little bit at the idea she found a book he didn’t quite know of. “honestly strange i’m asking about it anyway. but it seems to have some significance to me.” her smile turned more fond at the thought. “maybe the library just hasn’t got a children’s section?” she didn’t know for sure, she hadn’t been there long.

CONFUSION MASKED THE GIRL’S FEATURES as she glanced at the other. the suggestion wasn’t a particularly bad idea but it was still a pretty impulsive thing to suggest. she sighed at the thought. ❝ are you suggesting an uprising? ❞ for some reason, just the word ‘uprising’ made a shiver go down her spine. 

    she said the word uprising and loki liked the way the word settled into his ears. he wasn’t sure if he’d be too fond of being the one heading it, but if he could find someone else to... start something. that would seem fitting for someone else, not for him. it was better to test these... whoever they were by using someone else. “possibly. it could give us some answers, could it not?”

“probably. i have felt totally out of control since getting here.” she didn’t know if the people here were responsible for what happened to her but she couldn’t help but assume. she didn’t like it. “what are you suggesting then? some sort of trouble?”

    those were the kind of inquiries he craved. grinning a bit, he shrugged his shoulders. “a number of things. i’d like to start testing them a little. they want us to play government. gave us a mayor, professions, those to keep us in order. wouldn’t breaking the rules just be a little fun?”

                       DAPHNE DIDN’T MEAN TO START LAUGHING. in fact she thought                        the man seemed quite serious about the whole thing, which…                        truthfully was what made it so unbearably funny.                                                 “JEEPERS you’re intense,”                        she said between giggles, and covered her mouth with her hand to try                        and pull it together. “what’s your plan to over-throw these all powerful                        robot people?”

    loki cocked an eyebrow when she started laughing, but he wasn’t bothered by the fact she did. it gave him the answers about how useful she’d be. “it is effective, though,” he said in his defense before he stood up straighter once again. “play their game for a while. find the cracks. exploit those cracks.”

“i agreed to be a hostess because it sounded easy. just be pretty and say hi to people, just kinda like hosting a party or something. plus the restaurant sounded super fancy so i can dress up all the time. but now that i’m thinking about it working sounds pretty awful. don’t they have any jobs around here that are just about, i don’t know, looking good? i could be good at that.”

“i don’t... think so? that sounds kind of boring, doesn’t it? i mean i suppose you couldn’t mess that up, but just standing there all day? i don’t know, i’d get antsy. besides i don’t know if that’s really a job, job.”

            ❝ SO LET ME GET SOMETHING straight.” he leans back, holding up the one hand he had. “my name is killian, i don’t know ANYTHING about myself, like what i’m deathly allergic to, i’m in a town surrounded by other strangers who have NO IDEA who they are, and i only have one hand? sounds like a party i didn’t want to be invited to.”

     “that’s really a conundrum, isn’t it?” she purses her lips together. “do you suppose you’d be up for trying things until you know what you’re allergic to? might give you some stories to tell. shame you don’t know the story behind the hand though. you reckon you stole someone’s wallet and they wanted revenge?”
