nile loved his pokemon, he really did. he had his team since he was young, and they were amazing companions that he wouldn't trade for anything else in the world. but sometimes, they had their flaws and he wondered why they couldn't be a little bit less troublesome.

so, when he saw seoirse falling asleep on a much smaller froslass—he found himself losing his cool and rushing to the seismitoad and trying to push it off the other pokemon. "seoirse no! don't sleep on another pokemon again!"

he decided to bring out corona, his jellicent, and sage, his samurott, to pick up seoirse off of the poor froslass and hope to god that the pokemon was fine. during this moment, he spotted another trainer who's face was familiar but someone he also had a feeling was the friend of the froslass. this just made him more guilty and all he could do was save the others pokemon and apologise "i am so sorry! don't worry, she's going to be fine!....hopefully."

set at one end of haeundae beach atop sand, this orange box is wrapped in a lighter shade of orange ribbon, upon walking up to the box the trainer might hear something flailing around inside

nile spotted the strange box before kitae had when they entered the haeundae beach. excited like a child seeing the new gifts under the christmas tree, he looked back at kitae and merely stated "dibs!" before he rushed towards the box. leaving trails of his footprint on the sand and for a brief moment—it felt like he was back in montauk and having fun on the beach. he hadn't even realized he didn't step foot on the beach as much as he's used to due to his obsession with coffee.

perhaps he should take more breaks so he could enjoy the beach. his pokemon would probably love that.

as he came in closer, the sound of flailing reached his ears, making him pause for a moment and tilt his head to the side in confusion. in the end, he merely shrugged as he picked up the box in his hands and scrutinized it. he hummed as he wondered what could be inside of it, but as more faliling ensued from the inside of it—he decided to put it down so he didn't drop the box.

he then patiently waited for kitae to reach him, asking him "what do you think is going to be inside of it?"

he then decided to answer his own question by untying the ribbon and lifting up the cover, anticipating whatever may be inside the box. hopefully it'd be something amazing or coffee related.

finally, he reached her spot once again after that minor event, placing down the beverage on her table with a grin “here you go! a large mocha latte to make your day better.”

“Well things could be better, but that’s what you’re here for! And your mocha latte’s, of course.” Ahri grinned with satisfaction at the barista’s attention to detail. It’s the little things like remembering her order that describes a caring person such as himself. “And I figured that Boo missed playing with Po and Moana and definitely wanted to show off his new wings.”

The female jokingly shooed the barista away so that he can brew her drink to perfection. She felt like her worries were melting away as she watched the three baby pokemon (yes, Boo will forever be a baby pokemon to her) having the time of their lives without a care of the world. Staring out into the window right beside her booth, Ahri reminisced her younger days. Time passed by so fast - too fast. And suddenly, here she was; now a contest judge.

She hears the male’s voice from across the room and she turns her head in anticipation for her drink. And, man, Nile and his mocha latte never disappoint.

“You are absolutely the best and this mocha latte is absolutely the best. Thank you.” Ahri hummed with delight as soon as the liquid reached her lips and down her throat. Caffeine was definitely one of the things that can help her get through the day.

“How have you been? It looks like Moana and Po are doing good.”

"thank you! of course i have to make all my drinks—including that mocha latter—the best it could be! i have to make the best fo rthe best people after all." he beamed when she complimented his skills in making the beverage. after all, for nile—a positive remark about his coffee was much more touching than anything else.

"i've been doing fine, just happily working here and giving people the coffee they need to brighten up their day." he answered with a lopsided smile as he rocked on the balls of his feet. "and yep! they've just been doing the usual—being an innocent sweetheart and endearing troublemaker respectively."

"what about you? you suddenly just poofed and i was starting to worry i lost one of my favorite customers. moana and po also missed boo a lot." he asked in return, curiosity glinting in his eyes but not necessarily nosy. he was a simple guy after all, if she wanted to talk about it then he'll listen—if not, then he'll drop it and talk about something else. like coffee, because coffee will always be an interesting topic.

“Have you really been holed up in here all day? Santa came Niles! Which means we’re gonna go see if we made the nice list this year.” Kitae winked, bumping his hip against the others. “But before we do- I have big news for you.” Carefully he unwrapped Azurill from his coat, letting the baby Pokemon peek out. “You’re a Dad now, meet our child.” He shifted her up, letting Niles get a better look at her. “As in- you should help me water type expert. I dont know anything about these kinds of Pokemon. OH and also-” He shifted Azurill to one arm, pulling out the matching beanie for him. “This is for you baby daddy- now we match and you wont get sick.”

he nodded, not ashamed at all. “yep! i had to make this new idea for coffee i just thought of! i mean, it would be amazing if i succeeded on it and i just really want to show the world my newest creation!"

his passion for coffee could be found in the way his eyes lit up more brightly and voice held much more life to it. truly, he was a coffee fanatic to the core. but then he blinked and his mind short-circuited for a second when kitae claimed he had become a 'dad' for their 'child'. fortunately, it wasn't anything too crazy or complex or he wouldn't think he could even respond anymore. seeing the small azurill, he instantly began to gush. "awww, what a cutie! and of course i'd help! i shall love this child of our's and you know i'd be happy to help with anything babies."

he took the beanie and placed it on with ease and laughed "alright, alright. so now we're going to go for gift hunting right? i hope i am on the nice list this year."

As soon as the bell above the door signaled the female’s arrival, a certain pokemon flew through the doorway into the cafe at the speed of light. Rolling her eyes in affection at her companion’s enthusiasm, the corners of her lips curled into a small smile at the familiar smell off coffee beans and the sounds of middle-of-the-day mingling.

“Boo, don’t forget to be careful of not disturbing the other customers, okay?” Ahri called out to her Togetic who was obviously very excited to finally be back at the cafe to play with the other baby pokemon, his friends, that inhabit the establishment.

She took her seat at her usual place at a corner booth that overlooked the entire floor, humming to the Christmas carol that is softly being played as she made herself comfortable. The Winter weather had gotten chillier and chillier as it got closer and closer to Christmas day, which meant that it got closer and closer to the day in which she would reveal to the world of her comeback to the contest scene - as a judge, for that matter! It has been six years since she had last stepped inside the contest arena and it’s safe to say that she’s nervous as fuck.

Ahri snapped out of her thoughts when a familiar figure approached her table and she immediately erased the frown from her face and replaced it with a smile.

“Nile, it’s been a while! I would like the usual - a medium mocha latte.” She paused for a quick second to think over her decision. “Actually, give it to me in your largest cup. It looks like I’m going to need it today.”

the light ringing of bells made him look at the entrance wherein he spotted a familiar face he hadn’t seen in a long time. eyes brightened as he saw her, having worried about her well-being due to the sudden disappearance but decided that could be talked about later. after all, he’s got an order to take and a drink to make. he grinned at her as she listed the order, already knowing that would be it ( he never forgets a regular customer’s usual order—he thought coffee spoke a lot about them ) “yes it has! i hope you’ve been enjoying life, and if not—well this mocha latte surely will!”

looking back, he spotted boo flying around with moana and po after his heels, jumping around to grab the togetic. he chuckled, before asking the other “i see boo has evolved. i hope that moana and po wouldn’t cause too many troubles trying to catch him.”

“well, we’ll talk later—first i got a mocha latte to make. thankfully, not a busy day, meaning we gotta’ catch up!” with that said he hurried back to his station, ready to produce her ordered beverage with finesse. he wouldn’t want her to drink something horrible after all, especially not when she came in after quite some time! once he’s done, he easily weaved through po, moana, and boo’s game of tag. he paused when po stopped to look back at him and gestured at the togetic with a pout, before pointing at the piplup’s own wings. he took a moment, but then laughed.

“sorry po, but unfortunately you can’t fly like boo there.” he would give a pat on the head, but he had to serve the mocha latte first. plus, po seemed to just huff at his words and continue chasing boo instead. he shook his head lightly and fondly at the sight.

finally, he reached her spot once again after that minor event, placing down the beverage on her table with a grin “here you go! a large mocha latte to make your day better.”

get in loser we’re going gift hunting. Kitae & Nile~

If there was one thing that Kitae could ever declare as “tradition” it was going and searching for gifts from the Delibird aka “Santa” with the one and only coffee fanatic he knew. But- things would be a little differently this season. Usually he never wanted to drag his Pokemon out into the cold, but he was currently a new Father…and he was having attachment issues to the most adorable baby Azurill he claimed to ever laid his eyes on. Plus- Nile being the water type expert and lover he knew, maybe he would have some tips on how to properly take care of the Pokemon. Plus, he knew Nile would just go gaga over her. He knew that the coffee shop was closed at these hours, but knew Nile would somehow still be at his shop doing something.

He approached the shop, Azurill wrapped up in a little coat, beanie, self heating blanket, and pacifier in mouth. Along with the baby in tote, Kitae also brought along another surprise for the former Trainer. Kitae already wore his part of the beanie set with the “wild one” listed, and the mild one for Nile was in his pocket. He pushed open the door, hiding the Azurill in his coat. “Nile wrap up whatever you’re doing- we have plans.”

as per usual, he’s stuck inside the confines of his coffee shop producing some new concoction. despite the fact that his cafe was closed for today, he would still be found there for he rally enjoyed the atmosphere of the cafe more than in his home. with nujabes songs playing softly in the background, and the scent of coffee strong in the air—this was definitely his preferred place to relax in. what’s more, he had been really wanting to perfect the idea he had gained for a new coffee to add into the menu.

he just finished another failed mix of the beverage ( much to his chagrin for he always hated wasting coffee ) when the chime of bells signalled someone enterring the cafe. looking up from his experimental drink, he was not the least bit surprised to see kitae—although, the bulk of something under the other’s coat was most definitely new. he chuckled lightly, going off to wash his hands before he’d exit the staff’s area with his bag in hand. “okay, okay, what are we doing then?”

he would have preferred to stay, but he could continue his experimenting later on. plus, something told him that this was going to be a fun experience.
