VO 70 “Monster Project”
here at HC|racing we've been working hard behind the scenes! We did a ton of cool sailing over the summer, most notably with the Artemis Offshore Academy and Dongfeng Race Team, and now we're settling into School/University and making a big push towards some sponsorship for the new year.
While I (Charlie) wait to hear if I have a place in the British Keelboat Academy, we've been discussing our options as time starts running away from us, and our September 2015 deadline creeps ever closer...
so we've had a chat with some friends and some boat owners and have struck a deal, but we still need some money - so we've turned to CrowdFunder.co.uk in association with Plymouth University and will be launching a crowd funding page soon.
this is where you come in! When we do go live on CrowdFunder.co.uk, we'll let you all know, and link you to our page. With each pledge, we can offer some great rewards, t-shirts, hats, stickers, your name on the boat, personalised video diaries and much, much more.
so stay tuned, and we'll let you know as soon as we go live - and in the mean time, sign up to our mailing list at HCracing.co.uk
thanks,
Charlie!
So today the Global Ocean Race announced that they’re changing both the timeline and format of the next GOR.
The start of the next edition will be moved a whole year to September 2015, to help encourage more sailors and help those currently entered to train for the extended route, which is the next change.
The route is stripped from 5 stopovers to just 1. 2 huge legs -Southampton - Auckland - Portsmouth. What a race! A long stopover in Auckland over Christmas and New Year 2015/16 and then the start of the second leg, which should be finished by March 2016.
This news gives us at hcracing time to decide if we want to push hard and enter this edition with a low budget, or wait until 2018/19 and push for a bigger budget entry. We have a lot of work to do to try and set out a budget and see if it is possible for us to enter, and weather we should put our record attempts on hold, but it gives us a great opportunity!

another VO65 from above, what a life pro sailing photographers have, eh!
There’s yet another low tracking its way across the Atlantic that should bring some nice weather for early 2014. We’re already starting to feel it here with a top gust today of 67 knots!
